The Year Of The Fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Can't wait for the English, Welsh Slovaks and Russians all converging on Lille the day before we play Wales!
Wymsey Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 More chance of the current floods affecting games and travel plans.

Wymsey Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 French national prepared for Euro strikes.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36460569
Fox92 Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 BREAKING. French national arrested in Ukraine who planned Euro 2016 attack was carrying 125kg of TNT.
Guest Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 I'd say that the chances are high for some some of terrorist attack. Personally I expect at least a stadium closed because of a threat. The strikes going on over here will be an annoyance for fans too. Travel will be disrupted. France really know how to make the most of a big event.
Simi Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 French national prepared for Euro strikes.. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36460569 Very misleading. Article headline refers to specific threat, but nothing within the article states a specific threat, just the fact it may have taken place in the same time frame. Going to be loads of this type of stuff to ramp up the fear.
Nick Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 They've been watching him for months. I would imagine getting murderd in Paris by ISIS has similar odds to winning the lottery. I'll be entering both draws.
RonnieTodger Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 This was always going to be a target but with security and awareness so high, I don't think it'll hit them. These attacks are often successful when the guards are down (not that I'd like to bet on this). There will have been hundreds of planned attacks that we'll never know about and whilst there will be 100,000s of fans converging in France, this is the case all over Europe, for any big event. It has crossed my mind about my trip to Lille, but I'd be pissed off at myself if I sat at home and nothing happened.
Danno Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 I see yer man in Ukraine was another Breivik, that's a lot of agendas spoiled.
GaelicFox Posted 6 June 2016 Posted 6 June 2016 What a sad commentary on our times. Let's be honest the crusades a 1000 years ago were a lot worse Man had been a fcuking waste of time since we figured out killing each other was sport ! We are just in a cycle and it's a cycle that will never end Cheerful shite hey
stripeyfox Posted 7 June 2016 Posted 7 June 2016 Latest foreign office travel advice for France: France plays host to the Euro 2016 football tournament from 10 June to 10 July 2016. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office has put together some top travel and safety tips to help fans travelling to France for Euro 2016. See ‘Be on the ball’ There is a high threat from terrorism. Due to ongoing threats to France by Islamist terrorist groups, and recent French military intervention against Daesh (formerly referred to as ISIL), the French government has warned the public to be especially vigilant and has reinforced its security measures. During Euro 2016, stadiums, fan zones, venues broadcasting the tournament and transport hubs and links represent potential targets for terrorist attacks. You should be vigilant at all times, especially in areas hosting Euro 2016 events, and follow the advice of local French authorities. https://www.gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/france
Wymsey Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Supporters, as well as locals, able to get a 'terror alert' app (if there's any likely attack in their surrounding area) to begin at the Euros.
VLC86 Posted 8 June 2016 Posted 8 June 2016 Supporters, as well as locals, able to get a 'terror alert' app (if there's any likely attack in their surrounding area) to begin at the Euros. This idea could be kind of flawed considering the key part of it involves the terrorist telling someone who isn't a terrorist that they are going to blow someone up.
Guest Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 I'm surprised that BetFred aren't laying odds on how many people will be injured in terrorist attacks during the finals. In case anyone is here next Tuesday (14th) there are a lot of strikes on the boats/trains/ possibly planes organised. The French have no idea!
Jon the Hat Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 This idea could be kind of flawed considering the key part of it involves the terrorist telling someone who isn't a terrorist that they are going to blow someone up. Given the multi site attacks we have seen recently, knowing an attack is in progress elsewhere could be very helpful I would think.
VLC86 Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 Given the multi site attacks we have seen recently, knowing an attack is in progress elsewhere could be very helpful I would think. But if the app can predict where an attack is going to take place then surely the attack would be stopped before hand.
Captain... Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 But if the app can predict where an attack is going to take place then surely the attack would be stopped before hand. It won't predict anything, it will just alert people in the event of an attack close by, it will also be adapted to alert people of natural disasters and other things. It is not going to save your life if you are in a targeted area, but once an attack, like the one in Paris happens, there is a chance there will be co-ordinated follow up attacks across multiple sites, if there is an incident at a fan zone for example it will hopefully warn people to not go there and probably advise people to head home and stay out of the city centre. Then I expect it would advise them once it is clear and safe.
Captain... Posted 9 June 2016 Posted 9 June 2016 I am going to the Euros so I am aware of all the terror talk, and it does make me wonder about the safety aspect of it, there is a lot of talk of when not if. There is a nagging doubt at the back of my mind, what if, is it worth it. A question for those that are going, if there is an attack/attempt during the tournament would it put you off going? How bad would it have to be before you thought fvck it I'm staying home? I don't go until next Thursday so a week into the tournament, plenty of time for something to happen

I'd still go if there was an attack but if there is they may have to call off the competition. I'm in Bordeaux for the game this weekend.
leftbackinthechangingroom Posted 10 June 2016 Posted 10 June 2016 Im flying out Wednesday honestly I'm scared but with how security is in Paris which is where I'm going its helped ease my fear a bit but just gotta be vigilant. Like people have said you're just as likely to be involved in a terror attack here as well as in france.
