Mahrez - Arsenal

Recommended Posts

Always amazes me how long these kind of situations drag out. How long has the speculation surrounding Riyad been going on for now? Surely we were planning on offering him an improved contract before Wenger came sniffing. I know there's other intricate details apart from just his wages but a month or so later and I'm beginning to think Jon Rudkin is checking his emails/post/telegrams/pigeons once a fortnight. Not like he's even having to deal with another club a la Utd-pogba-juve.. Begs the question whether Riyad is waiting for another club to come in before committing to us.

Vardy says he never had any intention of going to Arsenal!  Yet it took weeks. It's all about negotiating the bits and pieces. Riyad's people will want clauses that work in their favour and we won't. Then it becomes a game of poker to see where the two sides come together.  Contrary to public opinion, I think we are quite tough negotiators.

Yes.. Let's just hope it has the same outcome as Vardy!

You'll have to remind me what he gained from watching two sides barely play their starting elevens in combination.

I have no idea, i'm not a scout nor a manager.

It was probably more a case of him having some free time and he fancied watching a game.

Gooner here. Arsenal is not looking to sign Mahrez, we are looking for a striker. Mahrez is not talking because he wants to get the best possible contract deal.

you've been looking for a striker for about 4 years now. Doesn't stop you signing other players.

Think it has actually stopped them signing players when it comes to signing players Arsenal cannot compete with Chelsea, United and City and sadly for them it appears Leicester City. Their God given right to a top 4 finish is under threat.

Well according to you Arsenal is doomed to 5th place behind Leicester, United, Chelsea and City. We are going to get a striker this year and I do like our chances. Also continue to enjoy Mahrez this season,if you win the CL, or the league again, I am sure he will stick with the club. If you finish out of the top 8 , he might decide to leave.

If we win the Champions League I will be found asphyxiated in a bath of my own happiness, at which point Mahrez's future will not be a huge concern of mine.

Spot on, City meltdowners, Riyad isn't looking for a move to Arsenal. He has an improved contract on the table, I reiterate he is happy to stay for at least 1 more season/window It would take a colossal personal deal for him to move, Barca nor Real are calling. Man City should sign Kone, and that chapter will also close. Barca look complete in their signings, and once again I will state Riyads wife does not want want him to move, if an offer ones in do not have a meltdown and switch on his wife like a few did on Vardys wife.

Tanner tweeted that contrary to some posts on here and on Twitter, riyad has not yet agreed his deal.

we expect (and hope) that he will but there is clearly a bit more ground to cover first

As long as Mahrez is in our lineup, his future looks to be with us. He played for us last night. He's still all here.

Bein released interview with wenger last evening where he refuses to comment on whether he is interested in riyad or has bid. He smirks. (Clearly he is)

gooners have decided that this shows arsenal are therefore interested and because they are interested they will get him.  So arrogant!

The arrogance of the specialists in failure. Long may their arrogance continue.

Arm 1968, we don't want Mahrez so take a chill pill. By all accounts , Arsenal and Wenger are not failures. Your boy Mourhino is an arrogant failure.

Not sure what to think of this one, still don't think we would sell regardless of whether they offer or not. Ball is in our court on this one. A player like Mahrez doesn't need scouting, so leaving straight after he was subbed and smirking when asked about it seems like Wenger deliberately trying to draw attention to it, maybe trying to turn Mahrez's head.

There is nothing from our side that suggests to me that he might leave, which is reassuring. The only story with any sort of negative message is that he may have been distracted by the speculation. The club has been doing a lot to make him appear happy and settled in photos recently, the one with Vichai was particularly interesting. Saying that, I don't think it's a coincidence that Vardy was out saying how easy it was for him to turn down Arsenal earlier. The bottom line is, we don't have to accept any bid for him.
