We've got to the semis once in 50 years. Quarter finals is par for England and we've still got every chance of making that.

Woy's to blame when we don't win, lucky when we do?

 

Can you honestly say they deserved to win against Portugal?

 

They deserved to beat the Germans, that wasn't luck, although I will say the Germans were poor in that game.

 

I've asked you for some honesty so i'm gonna be honest here, England we quite impressive in the first half yesterday, played well, probably the best i've seen for a long time, deserved to win if they carried that onto the 2nd half, but they didn't, the 2nd was back to normal imo, changes needed to be made and Woy was totally blind to them, based on that they deserved what came - an equaliser, a draw.

We didn't actually lose last night you know. To read on here you'd think we'd been thrashed and eliminated from the tournament. 1 minute less injury time last night and this

1-0 would have given us the win but we would still harp on against an inept manager. He did not select the best players and with the players he did select he put out a weaker lineup than he should have. That game we should have won 5-0. Russia put up no fight and we came out of it with a draw.

if you see quality in that then your standards and expectations are way way lower than mine

Hodgson failed in euro 2012, failed in world cup 2014 and is failing now again. If the potential of the team was awful you could forgive Hodgson, but it's not. The potential is actually pretty good, but Hodgson is a liability who is holding us back.

I haven't seen any praise for him anywhere lately. Even the BBC have started getting on his back now. He's as unpopular as an England manager has ever been and he will be roundly slated and then sacked when we eventually limp out of this competition.

I suppose there's something admirable about the way you keep sticking up for him, but you're on your own, pretty much everyone else in the country has given up on him and want him gone.

Even though we scored our goal in the second half and saw rooneys effort hit the bar? We should have won the game easily. If yesterday was Leicester vs Arsenal you wouldnt have been saying Arsenal deserved the draw. You would be saying Arsenal were extremely lucky to get a point.

i havent read the last 3 or 4 pages but yeah, enjoy mediocrity. we're football fans. we're leicester fans ffs. why do we think we're entitled, at international level, to win the world cup every year? 

 

what did you do when city were striving for mediocrity and could barely ever reach that? we just got on with it cos they're our team and we're not glory hunting little bitches who cry about things not being fair cos we should win all the games!!! we have our team, we have our country, we're stuck with it. 

 

so support them or go play golf or something. stop sounding so much like the arsenal, liverpool or united fans we spend 11 months ridiculing and then 1 month replicating.

Argentina haven't won the world cup since 1986. Roy has also been told by the FA to bring through young players. Not everything Roy does is his own call. I'm by far Roy's biggest fan but you can tell the players like him and they play for him. That's a lot better than capello, sven or mcclaren.

How many finals have the Argies reached in the last 30 years? More than our zero lol

I don't expect us to win every tournament, but the last few under Woy, we've barely made a dent in it.

And great bring youth through, but use it properly. We keep waffling on about Rooney and tournament experience, but someone mentioned a quote from when Aragones left Raul out and he replied they'd never won a tournament with Raul. Alli links well with Kane so we've curtailed his threat and played him deeper to shoehorn Rooney in. So youth is fine, but what's the point if you use it badly. Alli has been better all season than Rooney and if anyone out of the two deserved to start as the furthest forward midfielder it was him.

I'm a fan, that's why I'm so pissed off with Woy and how stupid he is. I'm meant to be happy with plodding to a slender lead against a shite Ruusian team thanks to free kick because we couldn't open them up and then throwing it away in the last minute?

I expect our highly paid manager to know what subs to make to see out wins against poor opposition. We've never played our best players, we always shoehorn in names. We've come to a tournament with a squad built not to play the formation we started it with. I expect us to turn up knowing what we want to do and how we want to play, not experimenting in game one. I don't feel entitled to see us win anything but I do expect us to give ourselves the best chance of it, even if we do end up out in the groups. Right now, and in recent years we haven't done that.

I have no idea why they think complaining means we're happy to see use struggle.

The very reason I'm pissed off with Hodgson is because I see players like Dier, Alli, Wilshere, Drinkwater, Vardy and to some degree that greedy **** Kane and I know we have good exciting dangerous players, that if selected and played in the right formation would make a real impact here, but he won't do it. And even when he doesn't pick them and we somehow plod into the lead, he can't manage to see it out.

Tbf, I think Matt is on the same page as me, if you read my last two comments.

At times it is tempting to want us to get complete shallacked for the greater good, but after the last World Cup I could see the clown Hodgson keeping his job after a 6-0 defeat to Slovakia.

The first half we looked good, kept the ball well and dominated the match. However, when you've got players like Lallana and Sterling spearheading your attack you're bound to lack the clinical, ruthless edge up front. It's all pretty patterns and link play and when they have to provide something meaningful they tend to struggle.

 

Second half we faded big time, Russia grew into the game and we began to tire - especially the attacking players. Kane was anonymous, Sterling was awful and Lallana was the best of the three but still lacks that end product. This was clear to pretty much everyone. So what did Roy do? Absolutely nothing. He could have injected something into the game around 60-65 mins when were so obviously struggling. Didn't even have to be Vardy (although it's quite handy having a 24 goal striker on your bench isn't it!?). A player like Sturridge/Rashford would have added so much to the game as well.

 

We go 1-0 up. Brilliant. So what does he do - pull Rooney (who was arguably one of our best players) off for a guy who has played only a few PL minutes really this season.

 

This and a number of other things makes it so bloody frustrating!!

Think Sterling needs to play on the right tbh. Delivery is constantly terrible with his left foot when he beats his man on the outside, and he does fvck all whenever he cuts inside. Let him beat his man and smash it across the face of goal please Woy
