Delivery is constantly terrible with his left foot when he beats his man on the outside, and he does fvck all whenever he cuts inside. The worst thing is though is that we don't have any backup on the wing, that's why he shouldn't be in the job.

You can sit back and accept Roy is doing his best but not me. I like most on here want England to win and just because I feel this manager is not capable doesn't make me any less of a supporter.

I've never been impressed with England under Hodgson.

Think the line up should be the sameish for Wales, with Vardy in for Kane( like that will happen), maybe Wilshere for Alli as well.

kingcarr21 Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 A few pundits before the tournament said the same thing as what most people say. Our defence is not the best so we really need to look at scoring at least 2 goals a game as we are always open to concede. We take the lead against Russia and go defensive knowing Russia had to attack it was crying out for us to kill the game and get the 2nd goal. Whether that was Vardy Sturridge or Rashford. Fair play to Rooney I thought he played really well in Midfield. A gamble that paid off (well sort of as we didn't win) First half I thought we looked decent but ultimately dominated because Russia were poor. People saying the tactics were 'spot on'. How on earth were they spot on if Kane was so ineffective. Also do people have any idea why Kane is taking corners? I can only guess that its due to him not wanting to head the ball after he had to wear that mask. Sounds a ridiculous reason but I cant think of any other reason why. Can anyone enlighten me on that? I was so pissed off after the game but I have calmed down a little now. There were positives to take from the game. Thought Rose and Walker benefitted well from Rooneys passing. Dier played really well and his free kick was brilliant. Ultimately though I cant stand Hodgson and his negative defensive mindset when it comes to seeing games out. If he continues with Kane then for me he should either give him a partner or go 4-2-3-1 which Kane is used to playing for Spurs. I fear now for the Wales game. They will have no fear and no pressure after their win. Still cant wait for the game though
mancunianfox Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Add me to the list of people who can't figure out why pundits seemed so delighted with Saturday's performance. This was the typical England group game against a defensive side. Have all of the ball but fail to unlock the defense. Whats the point in having posession for so long if your centre forward doesn't get a touch in the box? England always have posession of the ball against these kind of teams, it is against the better sides they struggle and we clearly have no plan B (again) for when do. I thought Rooney played well although I do worry about him when playing a side who bothers to close him down, and I really like Lallana since Klopp turned up and I thought he worked well for the team. Dier did his job in CM but once again the defence let us down. They barely had anything to do and still messed it up. Sterling and Kane were particularly useless but wasn't impressed with Alli and Wilshire either. Wales game should suit us as you would expect it to be more like a Premier League game. However, if England stick with playing Hodgson's negative version of posession football Wales could hurt us with a geniune superstar on the counter. We'll probably meet similar resistance as Russia against Slovakia too. I really can't wait for the end of Hodgson's tenure and I can't understand how he has been treated so kindly (for an England manager) by the press. There isn't an obvious replacement out there but I think we need a change. Barton was spot on when he called him an 'Energy Vampire'. Amazing that such a youthful team could play so slowly.
