RowlattsFox Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Spain are ridiculously patient. Doesn't always work but they back themselves to score at some point.
Vacamion Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 I'm finding it hard to understand the game plan of the 'lesser teams', in the competition. They are defensive, sitting back, soaking up possession and hoping to nick a goal somehow. Not only is this very very dull as a spectator sport, IT'S NOT WORKING. ... Invariably, the bigger teams are pushing pushing pushing and are scoring and winning the game anyway. Why not have a go? Why not play a couple of strikers and make a game of it? At least you'll be losing knowing that you played a bit of football you know you can play. Northern Ireland last night were a great example. One shot all game for a team that has done so much more than that during qualification. Genuine question: what is the point in getting there only to play a game plan where you'll probably bow out with a whimper? Should have been posting this in a thread about England...
z-layrex Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Im in Algarve, just ate a load of cheese and had 4 superbocks. 20 mins of Spain on top of that and the heat put me into a coma. Clean sheet tho, I have Alba and Juan in my ff team.
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 That was ****ing dreadful from Spain. I like Spain, used to enjoy their 2008 - 2010 Tiki Taka. I understand some people found it boring but I don't agree personally, it created a lot of chances and it was often going somewhere. Now they're like watching United this season. Ten thousand passes without going anywhere. Czech Republic didn't really look good enough to do much about it but they didn't really deserve to lose either, bit harsh. Del Bosque needs to be cleared out. Should never have survived the last world cup, no other manager in the world would have. Barcelona have evolved beyond Tiki Taka and learnt to move on. Spain MUST do the same. Sure, they may not have Suarez, Messi and Neymar to lead the charge but they've still got bags of talented young players to "do a Germany" and rebuild with. On paper, they've still got probably the best squad in the tournament but it's being absolutely wasted right now. I honestly think we (Leicester) would beat that team comfortably playing like that.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 No quality on show in the Eurovision Derby as yet.
filbertstreet Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 ibrahimovic's nose is massive, thought people were exaggerating
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Every two years I forget how ****ing irritating Mark Lawrenson is. We get it Lawro, you're not impressed by anything. Cool bruh. It's about as funny as kingfox. Hope Ibra scores a couple of worldies just to shut him the **** up.
RowlattsFox Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 You can tell both of these needed a playoff to qualify.

At least they won a game (I think) unlike us. They've got no strikers that's their problem. You put villa and/or Torres in their peak in that team they'd be a totally different prospect all together, Alvaro Morata is Nowhere is a shadow of those two.
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Who's The Irish number six that's literally just handcuffed himself to Ibra?
sphericalfox Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Ireland won't be able to keep up this tempo for very long. They better hope for a scrappy goal soon.
Manwell Pablo Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Well this is crap. Tournaments been a bit muh as a whole. Enjoyed your lot, opening game had its moments. Obviously England but I'm not neutral. Aside from that, not great.
sphericalfox Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Who's The Irish number six that's literally just handcuffed himself to Ibra? Whealan.
StanSP Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Who's The Irish number six that's literally just handcuffed himself to Ibra? Glenn Whelan
Footballwipe Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 After a mildly promising opening Friday and Saturday, the opening round has petered out into a classic major tournament set of first games. Bleh

You put villa and/or Torres in their peak in that team they'd be a totally different prospect all together, Alvaro Morata is Nowhere is a shadow of those two. I'm sorry Mablo but you know their problem is much bigger than a lack of strikers. You also know that even if they had one, they wouldn't change the way they play. Costa, Morata, Negredo, Alcacer, Torres 2016, Lucas Vazquez and Williams off the top of my head are all perfectly good enough to lead the line in a conventional 4231/433 for them. They just don't want to play that way. You don't need to have David Villa 2008 in your team to play well and win. Leicester just won the league with an ex non league journeyman because we played the right way and gave him service to fit his football. Tournaments been a bit muh as a whole. Enjoyed your lot, opening game had its moments. Obviously England but I'm not neutral. Aside from that, not great. Croatia Turkey was excellent I thought. Germany was alright. First games are always ropey.

First games are always ropey. The system or way of playing would work if you commit a few more, better players, forward. It is not quite the same system as employed in 2008 and 2010 as they used to play villa and Torres. The system is more like the bizarre one which to be fair to them did eventually win them euro 2012, but flopped at the World Cup Nothing wrong with short ball retention, Barcelona still employ it, difference the commit more forward than Spain and have better players. As you say into more of a 4-3-3 Turned Germany off . I did watch all of the Croatia turkey game and yeah was watchable.
sphericalfox Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 mark lawrenson is my hero Mark Lawrenson hates football and footballers. He's the definition of gobshite.
