StanSP Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 To be fair, Jonathan Pearce gets excited by everything. In the world cup he got excited by goal line technology when the ball hit the post and came out having gone nowhere near the line. Absolute fanny. Worst commentator in the world. i remember that. this was ultra-excitement though
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 i remember that. this was ultra-excitement though Call me cynical, but I've always felt like Pearce is one of those commentators that's constantly trying to go down in history for iconic soundbites. He spends the entire game chatting irrelevant off topic shit until someone scores then tries to be as excited and melodramatic as possible. He's the Ian Stringer of the national media.

Manwell Pablo Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 But Barcelona have learned to take a more direct route to goal. There are times they have to be patient because teams will still park the bus. But they've brought in Rakitic who goes back to front far more directly than Xavi did and Suarez who's direct by nature. Spain slow the game down when they don't even need to. Silva has lost his edge, Iniesta is past his best and slows the game down, Fabregas isn't at his best playing that way, Nolito is frankly bollocks. They've no urgency. They still work good positions though, obviously Barcelona are more direct than Spain as you say but that is due them having more options up the pitch, hence they have to slow the game down and work positions. the tactic would be fine if they played better attacking players which is the original point, morata quite frankly is not good enough, I've no idea what Costa is doing at home.
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 and Lawro is the worst person to do that with Pretty sure Lawro spends thr whole game ignoring him, thinking up sarcastic one liners about people more talented that he ever was (which is nearly everyone.)

It's not just the lack of top notch strikers though is it? It's they've gone from the tiki taka that cut teams to ribbons to an utterly pedestrian style which seems to focus more on ball retention to the point that they're not taking opportunities to turn the screw and create an opportunity in favour of increasing their pass completion percentage. If they were still playing the way they used to, having the opponents chasing shadows and just opening them up whenever they felt like, and just weren't scoring because they'd managed to get the Spanish Steve Howard up front then you'd have a point, but they're not even creating the chances to be missed.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Just hope the Republic can hold on here. Would give them a super chance of progressing.

They had 18 attempts on goal which suggests your last sentence is an utter non sense. Again at the risk of repeating myself, they stop because they work the ball into the final third and lack options, because the lack of quality and quantity of players, which in the past they had. That's why the won three back to back majors. the amount of times they had to wait for silva or even Alba to get up and make run was ridiculous and every time they did work a good ball into Morata he fcked it up. I'm actually shocked they had that many efforts.
Fox92 Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Come on Ireland. Although since they took the lead Sweden have been the better side.
StanSP Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Clark OG. Couldn't have happened to a nicer bloke exactly what I thought when seeing who it was
Finnegan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 That's a great finish from Clark Probably the best finish from a villa player all year.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Best game of the tournament so far this imo. Great effort from both sides.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 13 June 2016 Posted 13 June 2016 Is this the first game you've watched?! Only the France game has been better tbf.
