This is just getting messed up now  the complete lack of accepting that they have done anything wrong from the Russian officials is staggering, glad to read England fans are being sensible and not wearing any colours around Lille they really need to tone it right down and just keep their heads down if they are staying there, the Russians just seem to be intent on trashing the place. I wouldn't blame the French police if they just rounded up every Russian "fan" they could find and sent them home, don't really care about innocent Russians being sent back we must protect the innocent citizens of France and football fans. I winced at the sight of our lads getting battered. Made me think of all the soft-soap thinking of recent years instead of military training and martial arts opportunities for all from schooldays onwards.

 

Like one or two others I think there may be more to this than meets the eye but, as it stands,  the European countries need to think very hard about agreeing to play the next world cup in Russia.

 

I've actually favoured greater dialogue with Russia and an ending to EU provocation and American isolationism over Ukraine   - but you can't have any kind of sanctioning of the Russian fans actions in Marseille.

It's not going to be easy, but you can minimise the risk, don't walk around Lille in colours with flags or in big groups, don't get smashed and start chanting, save it all for Lens on Thursday, if you are in Lille tomorrow night just get an early night and then head to Lens early, no Russians in Lens. The same goes for the Welsh in Lille.

 

I don't know what the Slovaks are like and if they will be targeted by the Russians in the same way, it is hard to avoid them when you are playing them, but we aren't so you should be able to avoid it if you want, a shame that they are playing at 2 in Lille, that means  by 4 they will all be on the streets. Fan Zone is probably the safest place to watch the games, then bed.

To be fair many of the assaults videoed show lads being isolated and attacked by packs of wolves

And in these attacks the English lads stand and trade and try fight back, nothing too soft about that !

Also if he's going to moan about us being soft, shouldn't it be pointed out that we did the right thing and restricted the travel of known hooligans, whilst Russia let theirs travel. Seems a bit off moaning about our fans not standing up to them when it's basically women and children, Colin from accounts and that bloke who's normally pissed up, held up by the bar in your local on a Saturday night, and they've turned up with gum shields, balaclavas and knuckledusters and organised a kind of ambush.
