sylofox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 People moaning about the Deeney fee. Forget the cost can he or any player do the job should be all we worry about. Our owners did not make billions pissing it up the wall. If CR and Walshey feel he or any player can do what we want we should trust them. Kram cos us 9m we just sold him for 5m so Deeney is 27m not 32. Others will go and we don't know what for. Wait till the window closes and see what we have spent and on who minus our sales.

Not disagreeing with you, but why are you taking the sale price of Kramaric off the Deeney fee? We pretty much lost £4m on Kramaric, as he cost us £9m and we got next to bugger all in return. So you could say Deeney is costing us £36m not £32m as we're paying £4m to rectify the mistake of buying Kramaric.
Corky Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 It also has a knock on effect. If we are throwing around £30 million for the likes of Deeney (decent but not exceptional players) we are going to have other prices bumped up for potentially better players.

johnny the fox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Anybody would be worried when you stop counting and start weighing the money...
sm1 Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Considering we could potentially lose kante and vardy for 40m spending most of that on Deeney, just can't get my head around that.

richardsfoxes Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 If you think Deeney is worth 30M there is something wrong with you, simple as that and the fact that we've already bid 25M scares me.

richardsfoxes Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 I'm not saying not to invest 30M on a striker, im saying that we shouldn't invest it in Deeney, their must be better/younger strikers we can find for 30M. To even contemplate investing that much in Deeney baffles me and don't see how it doesn't for others.

When you find one of these better/younger players let me know.

I doubt very much that we would get through to the knockout stages of the Champions League with just Leo and Shinji up front.

Really any stock over 12 months old is classed as a loss.Anything you get back is a bonus. Carrying dead wood like kram on a big wage was a loss. We lost the fee the minute he signed we was lucky to get 5m for him. You don't know me what I do or what I am worth. If you want to disagree fine don't tell me not to go into business. But so you know doing very well working for myself.

I said to a few people last night it is getting to the point where fees are irrelevant. But yours must be the worst logic ever. We lost 4 million on a player and yet you want to take that off the Deeney fee because we just banked 5 million. Wtf.

Cheese Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 30 million for a player that scored only 13 goals last season and who will be 28 by the time next season starts seems ludicrous. 13 goals is only 2 more than Ulloa scored in the 2014/15 season and I think a large portion of Deeney's goals came from the spot. If we are going to spend that much money I would rather we signed Slimani.
Realist Guy In The Room Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 We're entering an age where the transfer fees can be higher than we're ordinarily comfortable with and it wont actually make any difference. The television money for Premier League clubs now just means the money will really just recycle through the clubs. We may spend £200m this summer on a handful of players but as long as we stay up, come next summer, it will all mean nothing. Especially if we continue our upward curve which I fully expect us too. The only problem is if you go down but that wont happen to us in the foreseeable future. Our owners are too good that even when Ranieri eventually retires, his replacement will be an improvement and we'll continue in the same vain.

Nuge came on a free sold for 4m? Helped us out of the championship and survival next season. Surely it matters not what we pay, just the influence the player has on a season. Vardy, mahrez and Kante. 7m between them could bring us in 80m plus. So what is the net balance? As said before here. The owners didn't get rich without making good decisions, and as said before, it's not our money. If they are happy to pay 30m on Deeney then so be it. Hasn't it all changed we are debating spending big on a player. Before people start saying 30m is too much for him, wasn't so long ago that many here thought 1m was too much for Vardy.

Funnily enough transfer fees don't really bother me one way or the other .... But I don't think I'll ever get my head round what some of these players earn on a weekly basis.

I would rather Slimani but if we look at who we are linked to and if we replace certain players we need some English players too. With extra games we are going to lose players also linked with a few ACONplayers. Going to look silly if we don't have players for cover.
