Matt Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 England could appoint foreign manager to succeed Roy Hodgson, says FA chief executive Martin Glenn as he admits he is 'not a football expert' FA chief executive Martin Glenn held a press conference on Tuesday Glenn did not rule out a foreigner replacing Roy Hodgson as England boss Hodgson quit on Monday after his side's disastrous defeat to Iceland Chief exec admitted to not being 'a football expert' at event in Chantilly Wayne Rooney says senior players did not lose faith in Hodgson at Euros http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-3664383/England-appoint-foreign-manager-succeed-Roy-Hodgson-says-FA-chief.html The FA is a laughing stock. This is man, part of a 3 person panel deciding the next manager and he admits he is 'not a football expert'...Kind of a fundemental part of the working for the FA, certainly in that kind of role one would think. Needs to be a shake up from top to bottom. As for Rooney saying senior players hadn't lost faith in Hodgson, I think I smell abit of BS.
Fox92 Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 This is what I was referring to in my other posts in other threads, English football seriously needs changing starting with the FA. FA need a whole shake up. People on that board that know fvck all about football but probably just went to Eton.
The Year Of The Fox Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Basically he's there to veto any interviewee as to whether he's a yes man or not
MPH Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Got to respect Rooney for being an admirable captain and toeing the line...
Sampson Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 The reason "senior players" didn't lose faith in Hodgson is because he kept picking them when they were nowhere near good enough anymore.
bmt Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 The reason "senior players" didn't lose faith in Hodgson is because he kept picking them when they were nowhere near good enough anymore. Bang on.
Tielemans63 Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Not a football expert because he's primarily a business expert, in charge of the FA which is now primarily a very profitable business. Football seems to have become very much a secondary concern, keeping corporate partners happy being the most important. He wasn't appointed because he knows much about football. Guest MattP Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Reminds me of the England cricket team in the 90's. All the administrators were businessmen with a passing interest in the sport. Same thing is now happening in football.
Tuna Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 This Martin Glenn is a Leicester fan apparantly! Edit: also a former director here between 2002 and 2006. https://www.theguardian.com/football/2015/mar/06/fa-appoint-martin-glenn-new-chief-executive If he's genuinely a fox he'd know all you need is a TEAM not a collection of individuals and a pragmatic coach to be successful.

He's a Wolves fan, having been brought up there.Despite this, he's highly-regarded at LCFC - he nearly set up his own consortium to save the clubwhilst they were in Administration, but just joined up with Lineker instead.
Jattdogg Posted 28 June 2016 Posted 28 June 2016 Got to respect Rooney for being an admirable captain and toeing the line... Brown nosing hoping he will still be part of future squad. FA is a joke. I have more trust in not impregnating my wife without pulling out then i do in those tossers making things better
