Gerard Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 We'll be playing 4-4-2 or 4-3-3 so there are six places available outside the goalkeeper and defence, ideally we'd have 13 players competing for those six spots. 1) Mendy 2) Drinkwater 3) Kante 4) King 5) James 6) Amartey 7) Albrighton 8) Schlupp 9) Gray 10) Mahrez 11) Musa 12) Vardy 13) Luan ??????????? 14) Ulloa 15) Okazaki Inler and Lawrence are almost certain to go if we can get rid and maybe two of the above in an ideal world?
Gerard Posted 8 July 2016 Author Posted 8 July 2016 Sorted with Schmeichel & Zieler in the goalkeeping department but nine defenders competing for the four defensive spots? 1) Simpson 2) Hernandez 3) Morgan 4) Huth 5) Wasilewski 6) Keane ????????? 7) Fuchs 8) Chilwell 9) Maybe a right back ?????????????? De Laet, Moore and Benalouane moved on if possible?
TMELcfc Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 For the good of his career, Moore needs to go. Be surprised if Beneloune doesn't end up back in Italy, even if on loan again. De Laet I cannot watch when defending, he needs to go as long as we get another one in. Ulloa I'd keep as he's a different option to all our other attackers, but fear for Shinji if this Luan comes. And Lawrence I would've thought goes on loan again to the championship... Or Burnley!
BenTheFox Posted 8 July 2016 Posted 8 July 2016 Moore needs to be moved on for his own sake. Such a shame, I really wanted it to work out for him here.
jayfox26 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Moore needs to be moved on for his own sake. Such a shame, I really wanted it to work out for him here. Yeh he was awesome when we got promoted but has struggled when he's played in the prem.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Hamer De Laet Moore Chilwell (maybe) Inler James (maybe) Dodoo (Loan) Ulloa (maybe) This is what I would say Chilwell & Ulloa depending on what bids we have for them & James depends on what Ranieri see's in him.

I'd have to put Okazaki on that list with the reported 4-3-3 formation we might be playing. No No10 role and would we trust him to play as a No9 when Vardy, Musa and possibly Ulloa amongst others may be ahead of him? It's good business to sell your 30 year olds who aren't going to be first choice if you get a half decent offer for them. If we get Luan then we are a bit top heavy in midfielders and strikers.
Guest Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Can't see us letting young lawrence go. De Laet to Derby Benny to Italy Moore to Derby Inler abroad Hamer to div 1. Can't see a place for Okazaki but I reckon he stays and doesn't play. Ulloa to a low prem team if we sign another attacker (with size).
foxes21 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 If we play 4-3-3 permanently, Okazaki will be great off the bench for the last 15-20 mins, when we need to defend a lead.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I thought benalouane had moved on to fiorentina? Was only a loan deal.
themightyfin Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I thought benalouane had moved on to fiorentina? Nope
thybluefox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 James will go on a loan, Inler will leave, De Laet will loan, Moore has to leave but i don't think he will. Basically anyone on the fringe last season will hardly have a look in this season given the new players being brought in. They should all be looking to move on, IMO.
UPinCarolina Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Okazaki will have a role in this team, IMO. He's a part of the chemistry.
Spicer Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I wouldn't write off Moore completely yet. He is 23 which for a center back is still pretty young. Currently he is not good enough for our first team, but he could be in the future. He needs to get his head in gear. Barca often sell their young players who aren't ready yet, but with buy back clause for a maximum 2-3 years in the contract. Think that sort of thing would be a good idea in this case.
EGBFitness Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Can't understand why no one can see a role for Shinj!? Do people know he did kind of play out of position all of last. He will be a great sub for Vardy after 70 mins in a 4-3-3 formation, fill the position he has played this season (depending on transfers) and alternative starter with congested fixtures

Okazaki works his nuts off but so do Vardy and Musa and they have a pace threat which Okazaki doesn't. If it's true we won't be playing a No10 and going 4-3-3 as our stock formation then Okazaki looks surplus to requirements to me. Ulloa offer more of a threat as the No 9 and he'll probably be behind Vardy and Musa for that position.
tsintskaro Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I agree,I see more less place for Shinji here Musa and than Luan,if club gets him this would be death sentence for Shinjis' playtime Ulloa with his head playing ability will be better option
chicagofox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I'd be happy to see Hamee, De Laet, Moore, and James leave. They all served a purpose (Hamer to a much lesser extent) but as a club we have moved on. For his European experience I would like to see Inler stay. I think he could be a useful player for us in Europe. And maybe after a season in England he could adapt to our style in the Premier League. However, for the sake of his career if he can find first-team football elsewhere I would let him leave and wish him all the best. Benalouane is a mystery. In his few cameo appear maxes for us Inliked the look of him. But **** knows what happened when he went off to Fiorentina. With the signing of Hernandez, and the pursuit of Keane, I think his days are up at City. Again, if we could get him fit and focused I think he could be a useful member of the squad. But if he leaves he equally won't leave much (if any) of s gap on the squad.

Vardy never came off after 70 mins because we never had anyone else who did what he did up top - how many times did he look ****ed after 70 mins but we didn't take him off. If you have just broke your club record I would imagine he won't be sitting on the bench for a 20 mins replacement - his versatility will give us options in all 3 forward positions but can assume he will be playing as a left forward with Vardy in the middle and Mahrez on the right. As I mentioned before, his natural position is a CF and played behind Vardy last season as we didn't have anyone else to play behind Vardy with energy - he will be a 20 mins sub to continue pressing from the top but also knows where the goal is. Gray is like for like Mahrez, Schlupp for Musa and Shinj for Vardy. Albrighton and Ulloa will provide alternative options depending on a game/formation and will probably be played together more for Marc's crossing and Ulloas aerial threat (depending if we Ulloa goes and we buy an upgrade)

Okazaki and Ulloa won't be starters and it's good business to sell 30 year old reserves for decent money if you can. If we play 4-3-3 as our stock formation Albrighton doesn't really fit that as a defensive winger. He'd be good to bring on for Mahrez when we are winning but I can't see him starting much. His main asset is his work rate and crossing and without an aerial presence in the box he becomes less effective.

We have a big season ahead of us, although we don't expect to win the league again we will want to have a respectable finish, hopes of a good cup run and although we have entered the unknown with champions league, doing ourselves proud with a 3rd place finish or qualification to knock outs will be the aim. That's a lot of games to play and soon as October hits our fixtures will be congested and a lot of travelling - we are going to need the depths in squad and not just sell up given first opportunity. One of our biggest strengths has been the squad harmony/togetherness (could be genuine or could be PR BS) so having a mass load come in and out is going to effect the squad - they seem to be 3 well liked characters in the squad. I know Ulloa and Okazaki won't be starters, highly unlikely Albrighton will but they will get their chances throughout the season and all 3 players offer something to not make us a one dimensional team - something we have all moaned about throughout the season when plan A wasn't working.
