Transfer madness

Recommended Posts

Kinda quite funny the amount of money being traded around just to try and win / buy the premiership, something we did at a canter and for next to nothing

*sigh*

so you've not heard about the new tv money then?

Transfer fees have been ridiculous for the past decade, perhaps even longer.

Dunno why people seem to be so surprised.

gotta admit im a little suprised by the amounts being played for players at the minute who are not worth it .   pogba 100 million come on ffs that outrageous and also i guess ibra is on about 250k a week lol .

i thought after our efforts last year that teams might stop and think a little about cutting back a little on the spending on players and focus more on the team spirit and togetherness and finding gems they can polish into diamonds.

to me it seems like the following is happening

all the big teams   spend spend spend       do no scouting

arsenal       bid on every top leicester player .....or wait for leicester to bid on someone knowing we have scouted them for ages then bid on them hoping to steal them from under us

The amount Man U etc have spent in the last few years makes me think that instead of FFP the bottom half teams should be all be allowed to start doping. Financial doping isn't much better really.

Isn't that what we did last season?

Nah but if we'd been allowed off the back of our 14th-placed finish in 14/15 we'd prob have got like 100 points.

Surely with Ibras wages and the Pogba transfer fee plus wages on top of wages for the likes of Rooney, De Gea etc.

If United fail to make the Champions League this season they are in a bit of trouble.

I know they are a world wide brand with a global support, but how long can they continue to carry that sort of money without top level European football.

This season I expect Liverpool (with No European distractions), Chelsea and Man City to all be stronger. Arsenal, Spurs and ourselves will be hoping to also push towards a top 4 finish.

Will not be easy for United to get back to the top.

Not suprised at all tbh.

With the new TV money coming in and our success, money was always going to be spent.

The likes of United, Chelsea and city are going to spend big with the new managers and also the disappointing campaigns. Middle to lower clubs are going to spend more to take that chance on Europe etc after watching what we have achieved.

why is Pogba for 100m madness when United make 5x that in annual revenues.

When Real Madrid bought Ronaldo for ~70 Million and Bale for ~80 million they were buying goalscorers, proven deadly goalscorers because of the obvious reason that goals win games. The same could be said when Barcelona bought Suarez and Neymar for similar amounts....

Man United are definition of stupid in the transfer market.

~50 million for Martial was insane because instead of paying the amount that the player was worth now, they have paid the price for how much he COULD be worth in 7-8 years time.

Pogba will cost twice as much as Zidane. Let that sink in. I don't think he will ever be as good! They are also willing to spend this money on a player who is not a goalscorer. How in any market, a midfielder can be worth more than someone who bangs in 40 a season is beyond me.

For how much the new tv deal is driving up the prices in the market, stupid ass deals done by morons with more cash than sense, are manipulating the market much much more

Rant over (for now  )

Spending 20% of your annual income (not profit) on one single asset, that while looks good is no gautentee of success and without success has no real resale value is madness.

Even with great performances you are never going to earn back the initial outlay.

people always expect Liverpool top4, especially the scousers, this years reason is "its klopp first full season"

doesnt change the fact that since klopp arrived liverpool performed worse in the league, than under Rodgers

Spurs have had theie 1 in 7 top4 finish

In reality the top changes little from season to season, so that leaves us and gooners, utd , city, chelsea. any 4 from 5 , hard to predict the order though.

The way these transfers work, they are paid over a period of time. They can more than fully absorb the cost of Pogba over the long term; with an investment that basically guarantees them top 4 and champions league supplementary income until he leaves the club. Yes Madness.

Clubs in this country have over-spent for years. It's hitting a new level now but it was inevitable. You can tell most of the top clubs make their signings based on shirt sales rather than said player fitting the system.

Reminds me of the 1970's when £100,000 transfers were deemed high, and we went out and got Birchenall Weller Sammels, i remember gloating at school because my team had hit the big time!

I've been waiting all summer for MAHOOSIVE players, likes of Cavani, Chellini, Rooney, Iniesta, Pirlo, Roberto Carlos, Romario et al, to be piping up with, ''I want to join the Leicester Dream'' come and get me twitter rumors ect, but nothing, where's the heart, the passion for the underdog?

To be honest i can't understand why any player wouldnt want to play for us, we represent everything that is good in Football FFS,

Fact.
