You're talking about a club who broke their transfer record and paid £5m for Ade Akinbiyi. i think that answers your question

He was training with Portugal this morning. You would think if a deal was done then he would be having a medical in Lisbon sooner rather than later.

I just dont believe that we would pay 38.5m

perhaps this will go to the end and perhaps the sporting president is a big enough git not to blink

If a fee was agreed as reported in the Portuguese press then he wouldn't have trained this morning, currently there is no deal agreed and I can't see that changing - Sporting have held firm and unlikely anything will change so I think we can put this one to bed.

I agree this is dead. It's some elaborate prank to not let us have Slimani. Someone is spreading rumours

Nobody knows anything. He's probably had a medical already for all we know a few days ago.

He definitely hasn't.

Going to United helped him become the player he is now physically and mentally.

That's partly true, if he'd stayed or gone to another club (Arsenal tried to get him earlier, but did't fork enough dough) he'd be a different player, but mentally, he's always been like that. Quaresma (I think) shared a story about when they were kids, and Ronaldo would be doing pull-ups on the showers after practice to improve his build. Therefore I have no doubt he'd have become an amazing player anyway.

I'm not saying the real fee wont be disclosed in the end.  We would prefer it anyway (if it is lower than reported), but it suits your board for today to let your fans thinks you are getting a larger fee.  It's classic politics, grab the headlines and bury the real news when most people have already forgotten about it.

No, you don't get it. Sporting HAS to disclose it. It's the law here.

Besides, this board prides itself on transperency and duly informing the supporters of anything relevant regarding the club, so they would never do something like that. They'd rather take the potential PR hit rather than risk getting caught lying later on.

This one clearly will only happen if Sporting can get anyone in to replace him. They'll be in no rush. I think time is against us on this one.

Ok, this is my take on this story:

jorge mendes, as a play to destabilize Sporting, got to Adrien with the notion that it was now or never, his chance to sign the deal of a lifetime. He was shopping around for a club during the UCL draw, as Lyon's president confirmed, and that's likely where LFC heard of it, and decided 25M euros was a great price. Then, on Sunday, your president came to Lisbon to watch the game and discuss Slimani, and that's likely where the Adrien proposal was made, or at the very least mentioned, and both clubs found out they we're likely being used. Monday morning, Adrien (or someone close to him) drops that news report, claiming that 25M is a good deal (it isn't) and that Sporting promised not to close the doors on him. Keep in mind that 2 months ago he was saying it would be very difficult for him to leave Sporting before winning the title here.

So I figure that the Adrien deal is dead, since Leicester thought the player was listed, and Sporting isn't interested in selling low, and the reason no official news comes out on this from either side is because the Slimani deal isn't yet finalized.

Can we just clarify this before it spirals out of control, they are just quoting ESPN and that Peter O'Rourke freelances for them. It's all stemming from one person, whose information as I said earlier has been sketchy at best. All the stuff coming out of Portugal in their national press was nothing near that fee. So lets not take it as gospel, we'll find out eventually as they have to release it... but it's the word of one man at the moment and it's just spreading about as it's more of a story.

Tanner had the chance to put this to bed and he hasnt

LCFC are clearly happy for it to be out there - it's either true or we are using it as a distraction/leverage elsewhere

The guys login is Abrasive Fox, he is a WUM. No one knows anything until the deadline or the club announces the signing.

Ok as long as you've read all my posts and come to that conclusion I'm comfortable with that.
