Gone very quiet. SSN not even mentioning Adrien now and just talking about the Slimani deal :sweating:

We really need a CM and looks like all our eggs are in this basket now with so little time left!

I think this is happening - just been posted on ESPN that we've met the release clause in his contract. Reminds me of when I got my first pay cheaque - I immediately went out and bought a really expensive stereo.

Why would you believe it? "Sources close to the club have told ESPN" Bullshit haha.

EsPn is a sensationalist piece of crap, tbf, when covering American sports. But they have little audience for "soccer" related news and therefore little incentive to splash headlines and fake news.

Any possibility that the Slimani deal is done but the announcement is being delayed in the hopes of making it a double reveal?

Maybe.. but what's worrying is that there are 0 rumours of a medical for SIlva or him leaving training etc. Latest rumours seem to be that we have met his release clause but gone quiet otherwise. Would have thought there would be a lot more movement if a deal this big was happening

I honestly think the £38. 5 million fee is at least £15 million above what he is actually worth.

I think the fact we're already taking Slimani and they've already sold Joao Mario is why they're refusing any lower than his buyout clause, even though he wants to leave.

As when we were discussing the Deeney deal....if the player fits the standard and style of our squad, 'overpaying' for someone who we know will fit in, is better than doing an Arsenal, cheap-skating and then 6 months later still having a hole to fill.

I agree, especially considering we want to maintain our level near the top of the Premiership. Spending big is needed to achieve this on a consistent basis. I am sure if this does go through at that price, people will be grimacing but in a world where Jonny Evans is valued at 25million... this is not as much as it used to be in the football world. We desperately need a CM and if this is the guy that we really want, then over paying by 15 million may not be so bad. Ulloa could also still move for about 15m, so could look at it that way too.

If the rumours are right then it's €60m for them both, which allows them to set their own 'internal' valuation for both players (and therefore tinker with the amount they have to pay agents, previous clubs etc.)

if true then I'm chuffed to bits.

Probably dead

I'm thinking SKy need something "big" to report on at 10PM so might have paid us a nice sum to delay the breaking news.

I will be surprised if you find a club in the world that will part with 15 million for Leo I am afraid. Biggest offer so far is 3.5 lol
