I've clapped opponents twice as far as I can remember, Warren Barton, but only when subbed and Enfield after a spirited performance and only after the final whistle. I clapped Marc Nygaards goals against us when we were shit and he was at QPR but we were about 3-0 down and to be fair it was an absloute pearler from a garbage player it was more out of surprise than anything. Also clapped Vincenzo Montella when he came on for Fulham but I as I was so fed up with seeing dog awful players it was nice to see someone who actually had talent. And Enfiled. I think the triablism is, albeit very slowly, leaking it's way out of football. Judging by the games I've been to this season we seem much better at fighting between ourselves anyway.

What I found was that when getting older, you tend to change. My mum calls it Growing Up. It happens, tastes change and your football day inevitably changes from going for the atmosphere and the banter with away fans, to actually appreciating what you are watching and enjoying it for what it is. The first time it happened to me was when Di Maria scored that goal at Filbo. It was incredible, and I couldnt shout at our team for it. Sometimes there is nothing to do other than appreciate it, as theres not always someone to blame. (especially now De Laet and Wellens have moved on) My weekend was still ruined by the Liverpool debacle and only just getting over it so I can assure you that the Pashun! is still there.
Adster Posted 13 September 2016 Posted 13 September 2016 Fair play I seen a lot of fans (including myself) applauding their legends at half time however where I was sat (right on the right hand side) a lot of fans were being total bellends. The mutual applause from both sets of fans is great and I love to see it, rather than our fans deliberately attempt to wind the home fans up by singing again Steven Gerrard And Demba which was funny for all of about 5 minutes when it actually happened.
Fox92 Posted 13 September 2016 Posted 13 September 2016 Said it before but the true Liverpool fans seem class. I can remember going there under Pearson when we pulled it back to 2-2 and the clapped us off that day too. They seem to be generous when oppositions deserve it.

I know a couple quite well and their fan base are often class, just things like they always clap the opposition goalkeeper as he comes to the net.
Monsell1976 Posted 13 September 2016 Posted 13 September 2016 I commented at the match, that there seemed to be a mutual respect between the fans, didn't last all game, but we are league rivals, so to be expected. I for one don't mind Liverpool fans, quite friendly and approachable at anfield, and nice to see them show the police for what they really are, and finally get justice for the poor souls who died attending a football match.

tomtom Posted 13 September 2016 Posted 13 September 2016 The Sun. The voice of intolerance, racism and downright lies.
AKCJ Posted 13 September 2016 Posted 13 September 2016 The Sun does have the best sporting section in the printing press but I'm not willing to look like a twat when carrying it home for the privilege.

sylofox Posted 13 September 2016 Posted 13 September 2016 I know some Liverpool fans go on a bit but I have every respect for them on match days. Having been at Anfield in the early 80's when we took an 80 plus match unbeaten run of them. At the end of the game there players disappeared our players came to us to party. Then looking at a still full kop singing YNWA. I as many that day believe they sung it out of respect. Many years later talking to a mates brother in law who was on the kop that day he confirmed it was sung in respect for our players.
crazyleicester Posted 13 September 2016 Posted 13 September 2016 Im not sure what the OP is referring too but it sounds all good so good on our lads. I only watched it on the box but after an initial burst by our fans we went quiet after going a goal down. Like our team who have forgotten the basics that made us successful last season, it seems the fans have got into their old ways. We should keep cheering the lads on like we were doing last season. BTW on a side note, how quiet were Liverpool fans? New stand, new noise? I dont think so. They have been crap for years and it doesnt seem to have got any better. There is still hope of course, we managed to make serious noise at home so they have a chance. We had a dedicate group who made it happen, Im not sure if they have the same though.

Haven't a clue but your a credit to the school and your folks and that's being genuine judging people by schools and estates is exactly what that cvunt Murdock would love to see happen ... I knew Ginger witch Rebekah Brooks husband Charlie very very well he is a cretin of a human and she epitomised all that was disgusting and wrong with the sun newspaper and still is !
Out Foxed Posted 14 September 2016 Posted 14 September 2016 Ruud got a standing ovation after he mullered us. So there's close to 30 000 people clapping an opponent. I take it you weren't there that day.
