Thanks Filbert Street. Sounds daft, but a weak ankle, could that be the end of his playing days? Any doctors on the forum?

I'm no doctor but i'd say that's a pretty pessimistic prognosis

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You have won this weeks "over reaction of the week" award!!

When he had the injury it looks nasty as he buckled and i thought he would be out for a month or two with sometime of ligament damage, in a similar way to whats happened subsequently with Harry Kane.

However, one of the annoying things these days is when as paying fans we cant get some info on our own players direct from the club. That website is meant to give us information and all we would like to know is "He will be out for approx 4-6 weeks but that could change depending on how he reacts to treatment". Instead, we hear nothing. Again its the same with Kane. Its almost like telling people the extent of an injury gives coaches an edge when picking tactics for forthcoming games.

Lack of injury info ranks joint first with "undisclosed fee" when it comes to transfer fees. Just tell us as we want to know FFS!!

If he was a horse he would be in a tesco burger by now

Ranieri confirmed that goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel’s fitness will be assessed ahead of the clash, while midfielder Nampalys Mendy remains unavailable for selection due to an ankle injury.

He added: “[Nampalys] Mendy twisted his ankle a little. I think he will be back in two days. Kasper [Schmeichel] trained normally today (Monday) – I always wait until night before to see if he’s available for tomorrow.”

doesn't necessarily sound like a new injury?

Ranieri always seems to play down injuries though. The player is then out for 3 months.

In response to crazy Leicester, I did pre empt the statement with 'sounds daft '. Football is a very physical game. A very bad sprain can take months to heal, ligament damage can end a career. Not only that, you lose your fitness and form, and psychologically it can be hard be out for any length of time ( surely I don't need to tell you those things) If he now has a weak ankle, it could be weak all season.  I prepared to wager a sportsmans bet he isnt back in two days!

I've limited experience of sports medicine but ankles are tricky, certainly not one to rush. I'd anticipate three to four months plus several weeks before reaching full fitness.

Ive had ankle injuries in my younger days playing sports so I get its an area where an injury can reoccur but as far as I am aware it wasnt a break or fracture and it wasnt serious ligament damage. He has no history of serious injury and it doesn't seem to be a reoccurring problem. I admit it looked nasty as it happened but I think its a bit too early to worry about his career. Even if there was a doctor on the forum liked you asked, what could he or she possibly tell you lol

If you had asked the question if he could be out for another month I would have agreed its possible. If you had said out until Christmas I would have raised eyebrows but thought yeah 3-4 months out is possible with serious injuries but you bypassed all of those, even the whole season and jumped to it being a career ender lol

Thats why I highlighted it as its a crazy statement. We have no information to suggest its even seriously enough to keep him out for weeks never mind months!! You do realise some players recover from broken legs and play in a few months these days dont you mate??!!!

Is it me, or is Mendy suffering from the 'alleviated status due to not playing' syndrome??

We need anyone who's (with respect) not Amardey/King, so the injured bloke that few people had heard of prior to him signing for us (and he looks a bit like Kante) will make us better...

Shouldn't build him up too much...just saying

(feel free to remind me of this at the end of the season when he actually turns out to be Kante 2) :P
