West Ham off the pitch

Forget the happy hammers dismal form. Their biggest problem now seems to be the supporters. Not so much the discontented cockernees that cling to a return to an already partly demolished Upton park or even the standing over sitting debate that goes on at the London stadium.(dreadful temporary name)

Their most pressing problem at the moment seems to be a small but determined band of a new generation of icf wanting to & thanks to unbelievably poor policing & stewarding succeeding in recreating the "old days"

With some London derbies coming up this isn't going to go away.

Any thoughts?

My opinion is just sit the fvck down.

Same goes for our followings away half the time, just loads of aggro at times. Its an all seater stadium, you pay for a seat, youre supposed to sit down, so just do it and make some noise.

Anyone who wants to recreate the "old days" is a t**t as well. Just like they were in the old days.

Are you agreeing with me now?

Or should people be causing aggro in the stands and looking for a fight?

If they don't sort out the stewarding/segregation issue soon, it will kick off proper when Chelsea and Spurs come to town. Not sure what the police situation is but they seem to be non existent in the new stadium for some reason. Sounds like a free for all in there and disorganised chaos. West Ham need to get a grip and soon otherwise we might see some old school aggro again.

Love standing at football, and I if I'm around like minded people I don't see the problem.

I know why safe standing will never happen but it's a travesty.

the way they are acting is slightly Absurd but given the teething problems I witnessed at the kp coupled with their abysmal start its not hard to have empathy.

Oh put your flask away.

If I want to stand at the football, I'll stand. I couldn't care less that 'you're supposed to sit down' thanks.

So is there any point to rules in stadiums then?

Nah, the many thousands of football fans who frequent stadia and prefer to stand regularly are hooligans who break every rule and regulation (no matter how out-dated they are, including THEE most out-dated of them all, standing)

Well we are discussing a rising hooligan element in their fanbase, weve seen pockets of fighting in their home games so quite a few of them are mouthbreathers if theyre fighting with people who supposedly are there for the same reason.

This fake argument gets used a lot and it really is total rubbish. Believe me when I tell you that I do not pay for a seat, that's not what's motivated me to hand my money over, what I'm paying for is to get into the stadium.

But what if, at the KP, the other 32,000 odd, were motivated to hand over their money for a 'seat'?

Not all of them are.

Basically, is your response to rules you dont like just to say f**k it and ignore them anyway?

If they're illegitimate then yes. There's no good case to ban standing in all areas of the stadium.

The majority understand this and have, over time, found a way to allow people to either sit or stand as they choose. It's a solution that benefits everyone inside the stadium. It works like this: if you want to stand you buy a ticket in one of two areas, if not then you don't buy tickets there. This solution works so well and is so well established in the minds of Leicester fans that I don't even have to point these areas out to you, you already know where they are.

In short, the fluid rules of fans work better than the unsuitable, one-size-fits-all rules of administrators. In fact even the administrators recognise this point! Hence why they choose not to enforce their rules in areas that have been 'picked' as standing areas by the supporters.

This whole standing issue is one that could've been easily avoided if we stopped being so ridiculously ignorant towards safe standing. But as usual we failed to get with the times.

Whether in Stadiums or in the world... just because it is a rule.. does NOT make it right and when it is wrong it should be fought rather than just meekly accepting accepting stupidity

I believe (and you couldn't make this up) that the police cannot or will not enter the stadium because it doesn't have the infrastructure (yet) to allow their radios to work!

So the stadium operator (not West Ham) is repsonsible for the stewarding. But instead of using the stewards who worked for West Ham at Upton Park, they have recruited a combination of students looking for weekend work and nightclub bouncers resulting in either a too heavy handed or no response at all depending on who is posted where.

So far they've had an easy ride with their home games, but they've got Chelsea in the League Cup this month which could be interesting.

I presume all those on here complaining about people standing effectively breaking some sort of law.

Are not the sort of people who sit in the middle Lane of a motorway despite there being nothing in the inside Lane as that's a fine able offence and have definitely never ever done anything over 70 on said motorway.

Ffs I'd imagine 95% of people have effectively broken some sort of law. Be it a driving offence, trespass I mean you are aware it's illegal to be drunk in a pub. But who decides if you're drunk.

Whilst the video currently doing the rounds of West ham taking on one boro fan outside the ground and 2 of the little wanna  be's carrying blades doesn't fill me we confidence that my potentially 100th ground watching us, will be marred by that sort of shit, I expect that has **** all to do with standing which seems to have some how taken the blame.

Upton Park was never the nicest place to visit although the honour of the worst experience goes to our away end in fighting lol

These disillusioned, dysfunctional morons have found an opportunity to try recreate the 80s and so far are doing a decent job it seems. The government and the police need to get a grip asap and as has been mentioned they ****ed up by not taking stewards from Upton Park with them. These issues need solving. But don't blame standing that has **** all to do with it really.

L1 has stood since day 1 at the KP and the club effectively encouraged ufs to take the corner of sk1 knowing they would do the same. I haven't seen too much trouble in there.

As for the arguments that are mean to have happened at Wembley.  What did people think the singing section was aimed at? Anyone who brought in those sections with the aim of sitting really come on.

I think the geography of the park is going to play into the hands of those who are hell bent on causing trouble. The Olympic Stadium is in the middle of a massive parkland with lots of paths, canals, bridges etc.

I'd pencilled in this one as a potential away game with my kids as we've been to the Olympic Park a few times and it is fantastic, but may give this a wide berth if trouble continues.
