Father Ted Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Absolutely sick to death of watching this limited anti - footballer play for us. With the ball at his feet he only has 2 options, back to the keeper or hit and hope up the line. It's embarrassing to watch, defensively at times if he backs off any further he'd end up tangled in the back of the net. The sooner we shift "hit and hope" on the better. The only time he's in the media is because he's snapchatting and driving, pissed off his tits or strangling his mrs. Epitomises the crap football we are playing at the moment. Get rid.
FireFox Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 I agree. Though he did actually put in a decent cross today. Maybe his 3rd or 4th ever for us?
AKCJ Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Poor today but lets not act like he's not turned out to be a sensational signing for us. So many people change their opinions based on the odd performance. It's embarrassing.

narboroughblue Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Needs replacing and has done for a long time. Defensively he does ok, compact and no nonsense but on the ball and offering us an outlet he is poor. Hernandez isn't the answer so we need to buy one asap. Oh and to think some people were backing his case to get in the England squad. Deluded.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Right back has been the weak link for us for years now. Everyone was amazing last year but he was the worst of a great bunch, so to say.
Koke Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Decent defender but looks brain dead when gets get the ball. He did put in a few decent crosses in today tbf.
ZeGuy Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Will we get a slating thread for every single player on the pitch today? I wonder...
dannythefox Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Didn't think he was that bad today it's one of the weak points though but other things need addressing first imo.
Bayfox Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 30 million euros on a striker. No midfield. No chances created. 2 centre halves past their best. But ok. Right back is the issue we need to address. Sound. That should see us fly up the table. What's Dani Alves upto.
FLAN Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 His fault slimani can't follow the flight of the ball ...
Fox92 Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 He has been one of our most consistent players this season. As for the "hit and hope" remark - all our defenders do that apart from Hernandez, Fuchs and Chilwell those three can actually pass a ball.
Koke Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 In defence of Simpson he isn't the only defender who treats rhe ball like a disease. Fuchs is the only defender we have who has good technique and can actually pass. Chilwell & Hernandez are in the Fuchs bracket as well. Shame we have 2 good left backs who can actually play football but none on the right. Our treatment of the ball and ball retention is shocking for a Premier League side.
LcFc_Smiv Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Player of the season so far, does whats required which can't be said for a lot of our other players. The problem is far too many of our players aren't performing, so why are we singling out someone who's actually put a shift in for us this season.

A player who cannot retain possession to me is a player not worth having. He's not even good as a defender. Chin him off and play 3 5 2 or chin him off and sign a new right back. Would love to see his pass completion stats for today. Must be so frustrating for quality footballers like Mahrez and Drinkwater who value ball retention so highly to have to play with such a careless and limited player like Simpson.
dayday Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Ladies and Gentlemen today's scapegoat is Danny Simpson.

Get out, do you even know anything about football?

theessexfox Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Very good right-back at this level and a fine performance from him today. Not the problem.

Maybe a bit of a stretch, but there's little else to choose from at the moment. As I said he performs his duties and does what's required of him. It's not glitz and it's not special, but he's been far more consistent than the majority of our players... Either way I'm frustrated with our whole squad and management at the moment, it's far beyond unacceptable.
CPW22 Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 I think some of you are thinking the timing of the thread lays blame for today's defeat at Simpsons door, but it doesn't. He is extremely limited and does nothing for us going forward in any games. That said I wouldn't mind him being back up at RB. Similar thoughts about Albrighton too.

I just don't understand how a player who is questionable defensively (see penalty conceded when diving in at Stoke, constantly backing off), poor with the ball at his feet and offers nothing offensively can have a place in the team of the CHAMPIONS. Ben Chilwell a 19 year old left back came in today and had a better performance than Simpson has put in all season, used the ball smartly, attacked effectively and was still efficient defensively. It was refreshing to see and in stark contrast to the dross dished up on the other side of the pitch.

I would suggest punters get the real picture rather than pointing out certain individuals, the midfield and defence has killed us all season the quicker Ranieri rectifys this the better
