fuchsntf Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 I have always been one of the OTT optimists on this forum, never jumped into knee-jerk reactions Protected the players as individuals, including Claudio.....But !! Though we have picked up points, with results and beat Man.city. I still dont think, we have seen one good game from Leicester this season. No matter if it was full game or highlights,I have watched every single PL team (19 of them) except us all IMO have given at least 2-3 good performances, even when losing. We've been poor, and yes downright boring. Absolutely no style, no system being offered. The title winning players have lost their legs, and that split second intensity and discipline , like Chelsea last season, has disapeared. In contrast Chelsea have a younger base squad, plus now quality editions, with BBone players returning to form. Our new editions have no chance, to a man our title winning heroes have been poor, our Newbies had no support from within. We all believed, we would not repeat the wonder of last season, but some of us hoped for a top 6-3 position, or at worse top 12. I might still be fooling myself, I still see us turning our season around, and chase down and keep a 12th spot. All the lower teams, including the promoted teams, have played this season so far with that " fearless foxes" approach and mentality. Palace and Swansea have so far imploded, but in my eye, have also turned out better short performances than city.. Am I that wrong..??
StanSP Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 pretty sure Man City game was pretty good. You're hard to please if you think being 4-0 up against a team like that isn't a good game to watch . Also thought the game against West Ham, predominantly first half, was exceptional. Great attacking play and defensive resilience in equal measure.
Russell sprout Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 So Man City wasn't a great result and performance in you opinion, stoke away wasn't either, even the wins over palace and Swansea were at times in the season when neither were as bad as they are now,so they were good wins and performances aswell imo, brugge away was incredible for so many reasons, if not one of the above has satisfied you this season,in what's been disappointing in parts so far, then your a hard person to please
Gillies Apprentice Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 I thought we outclassed Palace and Burnley in the Prem and played very well in all the Champs League home games, apart from a few periods of opposition pressure when we defended resolutely. The Man City win was pretty inspiring as well .
crazyleicester Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 I thought we were sensational against Man City. We have discussed things to death regarding performance and why we arent at the level and it usually goes back to the players under-performing as opposed to last season where every player (even Schlupp LOL) seemed to play to the peak of there powers. Everything clicked. If hardly anyone is playing to their ability then we cant expect amazing performances. Hopefully it wont be too long before we can get the Man City type performances on a regular basis!
Beliall Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Any game we win is a top game as far as I'm concerned, anything else is a bonus
Milo Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Parts of the Burnley game we played like Barcelona - thoroughly enjoyable day!
crisp packet Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Arsenal at home we deserved to win . ( ref again) man city , West Ham. Stoke away either side of a crazy 15 mins Off the top of my head...
sdb Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Every game we've gone out to win we've looked good. Unfortunately we've only done that 5-6 times.
WigstonWanderer Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Think we've had some good halves, but struggled to produce good performances throughout the match (always a difficult ask TBF). Man City match probably closest, slightly marred by their 2 goals. In the main, too much hoofball for my taste, often looking to be the worst team in the PL, with just flashes of brilliance.
oxtonfox Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 Confidence is the key. Last year we were confident, played well and when we did go a goal down that was rare, the team always felt it could score. This season it hasn't been there. It points to the Kante effect and its absence this season. He linked defence to attack, had most tackles, interceptions etc. in league.
Clever Fox Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 The margins are quite small at this level. But i put our performances down to a few things 1. Poor preparation for this season. 2. Poor Signings 3. CR I think allowed himself to get too close to the players. 4. Poor Tactics coupled with poor formations. However I think CR has realised where he went wrong and is now acting accordingly. With the right signings we should be fine and in good shape for next season.
Aus Fox Posted 3 January 2017 Posted 3 January 2017 I think going into this season CR had his strongest team in mind of: Kasper Simpson Morgan Huth Fuchs Mahrez Drinwater Mendy Albrighton Slimani Vardy I don't think that team has played together yet, the key players in the team Kasper, Drinkwater and Mendy all missing a lot of football this season. Others such as Mahrez and Vardy woefully out of form. Our strength last season was having our first choice 11 out week in week out, this year we haven't. The replacements who have come in are young and still acclimatising to the English game. We have certainly seen flashes and games where we have been as good as last year, but not on a consistent level. Swansea, Burnley and Crystal Palace we looked a class above. Man City we were outstanding and Stoke we showed great fight. I would say if you think we haven't put in 2-3 good performances but The likes of Hull, Swansea, Crystal Palace and Sunderland have your looking at it through very biased eyes. I get the benefit of having a dedicated Premier League Chanel with every game shown live and repeats on all day, not one of those 4 have put in a quality 90 minute display, I would argue that Middlesboro, Watford, Stoke and West Ham haven't put in 90 mins of great football either but have produced flashes of what they are capable of in the same way we have.
ZeGuy Posted 4 January 2017 Posted 4 January 2017 I think the match against Manchester City was the only game where we were brillant from start to finish. Other than that great second half against Stoke and first half against Everton. These are the only games where I really could see glimpses of the past season and where the team worked together. Edit: Don't if it counts, but the Porto home was good too.
UPinCarolina Posted 4 January 2017 Posted 4 January 2017 I enjoyed Burnley. Silmani looked worth every bit of 30 million in that match. Manchester City was quite fun to take in as well. That said, I completely see where you are coming from. The magic I often observed on the pitch last season has gone missing.
