Slimani to China?

Modern football is mental! £38m bid rejected and for a player signed less than 6 months ago.

We are lucky in some sense that Chinese clubs weren't quite as active 12 months ago as they may have come in for our stars during the title run-in.

I like Slimani and think if we played a system to suit him that he could be a 15-20 league goals a season player. That said I don't think he's worth £38m.

However, given our current plight it would be too risky to sell!

mate 15-20 goals is worth double that at least.

Double that is £76m.

Do you know how many transfers in history have hit that level? 3

Of that, do you know how many were strikers? 0

You genuinely think that we would need to spend that to get a 15-20 goal striker? Give over. To take things one step further, £38m would make Slimani the 30th most expensive transfer in football history - has he shown anything at all to make you think he would warrant that accolade?

Now don't get me wrong, I see clearly the argument for not selling so close to the window, but it is undeniable that a £38m bid would be ludicrous for a player of his calibre, regardless of how he has done for us. I personally think with more time we would be mad not to accept as we should be able to easily improve on him and pocket some of the change with a bid like that.

TalkSPORT saying China can buy players until Feb 28th so this might rumble on beyond Tuesday. It's a tempting offer but we would need to buy first, if we don't then keep.

We probably won't sell but we definitely won't sell if we can't spend ourselves. Pointless.

If they come back in with. Second offer to take it above 45m then that would be hard to turn down...

But I would prefer to wait until the me of the season...

So if we sell slim and ulloa is going and it seems like he is what does that leave up front nothing we can't sell slim regardless of how much money the Chinese are willing to splash out. Big mistake if we sell slim

Sell him. Poor signing anyway. Get someone who can play number 10 who isn't dross like Ramirez. Sigurdsson would be my suggestion.

Why don't we just get Messi aswell. Sigursson is completely un realistic.

Get rid for that money. Bring in Defoe for a fraction of that.

The cost of relegation is far more than what we would (over) pay for Defoe, for Sunderland. They won't sell him in this window.

£38 million is not a lot of money to a Billionaire believe it or not. Relegation would be far more costly, and not just in terms of money for our owners.

Find it amusing how easy people think the transfer market is and think we can sign who we want..

Defoe would cost us a fortune from Sunderland. In our team Defoe would barely get a sniff on goal.
