Give over. To take things one step further, £38m would make Slimani the 30th most expensive transfer in football history - has he shown anything at all to make you think he would warrant that accolade? Now don't get me wrong, I see clearly the argument for not selling so close to the window, but it is undeniable that a £38m bid would be ludicrous for a player of his calibre, regardless of how he has done for us. I personally think with more time we would be mad not to accept as we should be able to easily improve on him and pocket some of the change with a bid like that.

The cost of relegation is far more than what we would (over) pay for Defoe, for Sunderland. They won't sell him in this window. £38 million is not a lot of money to a Billionaire believe it or not. Relegation would be far more costly, and not just in terms of money for our owners.
