It's all down to wether the player wants to play football or earn money. They earn a decent wedge anyway to be fair but this really separates the greedy ones to the proper footballers.

After reading about how much Mahrez "begged" him to come for over a year and join him at LCFC it would suggest to me that he saw himself becoming a top player at this club otherwise he could of stayed a hero at his old club "dragon slayer" with ease.

Personally though I still think he was signed to keep Mahrez happy above anything...

40 million is useful money but the recent track record of recruitment (with the odd exception) makes me think we'd use it to get two Akinbiyis and a a Junior Lewis

Indeed. It looks a tidy profit. But only if you reinvest it wisely. We have our pants pulled down on any subsequent striker transfer. Probably pay £20 million for Jordan Rhodes!!

Slim's scored 7 in 18 for us in a side that's not been creating chances and also a few assists

I think he's a 20 goal a season Prem striker in a creative team and they cost 30 million quid plus these days.

Not for sale.

Who would say no to 400k per week?  Madness.

That's not really the issue. It's technically not his right to even worry about it.

Contract Slimmy, contract, employer, contract!!! If he were near the end, then so be it, but he isn't so he SHOULD have no right to bleat or moan.

I'm just in awe of the amount of money.

Tell the Chinese to fook off ....    tell Leo to shut up and get his head down ...    get back to work on the shopping list and firstly buy a CB ...     stuff the fookin Rams then get some work done on the training ground ...

Why does life need to be so fookin complicated ! ...

In his first season here. Yet still people slate him.

I can only see him getting better and better.

People say he can't play for 3 clubs in one season.  Surely that rules out this move as he's already played for us and Sporting?

thats a uefa thing and china dont fall under the uefa umbrella

Nice to know we gave Porto £29m to sign a striker from their rivals.

Two birds, one stone for Porto.

I like Slimmy and think he will be a loss but I don't think he gets the appreciation he deserves at times. That said reject £40m and see what they come back with, I may be swayed for more.

Would be nice if they offered 50/60m for Mahrez, I'd pay for the flight.

Why do people keep insisting on this? Nobody is playing well together but Vardy and Slimani showed they can be a lethal pairing based on their performances against Man City.

Totally agree with you

Not sure why you think Madness would say no to £400k per week.

I know they were big a while ago but with all the members and recent low profile I'm sure they'd jump at the chance.

These China links tend to come out after they have had encouragement from agents, so that's pretty worrying.

I'm not sure what my agent has been doing with his time...

Provided he's getting the service he requires/deserves. Can't just always have Mahrez only to whip them in, Albrighton needs to step up, as well.

We'd also need a proper attacking midfielder to take away defensive duties from Slimani, you can't expect him to always track back when we need him ready further up front in a more advanced position.

Of course it could be Mahrez is off in the summer so getting shot of both for around £80 million might be behind the reasoning, just depends who we would be looking at as replacements.

I hope that he's in it for the money and I hope he goes if we can get anywhere near the sort of money being talked about (probably all paper talk though). IMHO he is nowhere near a £28-30m player.

If he goes we should be able to get someone better for far less money. Problem will be getting someone in before the window 'slams shut'.
