foxtillidrop Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Does anyone know? He used to really lead from the front and chase everything with relentless speed and intensity, working the channels. These days he skips around central areas to no avail. Looks heavier than last season and no where near as quick. Perhaps carrying an injury - can only speculate as no one questioning the contrast in his performances. Vardy was never just about the goals but his other qualities have vanished - baffling and frustrating - was way better in 13/14 and 14/15 - always a legend though.

Can we really afford a 50/50 player? Do people forget how poor we've been? This 50/50 player was instrumental in us winning the league. Slagging off Vardy seems like an easy option. He'll have a run soon.

Soar Fox Posted 29 January 2017 Posted 29 January 2017 Didn't Claudio Ranieri tell Vardy to play a different way at Chelsea away? Maybe its the manager who is telling him not to charge around chasing defenders down as he's previously done.

I think even last season the longer it went on the less he became the relentless, never stop forward he was earlier in the season, although the goals were still coming despite that.
filbertway Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 Telling Vardy not to put an almighty shift in and cause panic in the back 4 is probably one of the stupidest possible things you could do isn't it. "Right Vardz, you know that thing you do that creates chances for yourself out of nothing, causes panic in the opposition and really galvanises the crowd and your team mates. Don't bother doing that anymore"
FrankieADZ Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 with his poor form and everything i can imagine it wont be too long until hes labelled a one season wonder by the press,

Understandably so, unfortunately.

Id love to see what difference it would make to him (and a lot of the others) if we got a new manager. They're not playing for him.

He's 30 and he's had two good seasons in League football and even the Championship season was more a decent return than anything electrifying. Unless he drastically improves it wont be a press label it'll be a cast iron fact.
Wilson_6 Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 Do you think it might have anything to do with that he hasn't had hardly any chances on goal because we haven't created anything in the last few weeks??????? Nah he's just not bothered is he.

Nah he's just not bothered is he. The fact he is not getting chances is not just down to those supplying the ball. The fact he is not getting chances is partly down to the fact that if a defensive line doesn't let him get in behind, he has very few other ways to hurt them. At the minute he is struggling to find space because defenses setup to play against him and he cannot seem to find a way to adapt to that. He may sort it out as he's had to step up, adapt his game, adjust to new levels etc before and he has found a way to come good in the end, unfortunately it does normally take him quite awhile. At the moment he doesn't look dangerous at all. I do agree the "they aint bothered" line is starting to wear a little thin, football analytics for 10 year old's. I actually didn't think we were that bad on Friday night, well not in the second half at least, our ragerty defending is still a huge worry though along with how ineffective last seasons goal machine looks.

berniethebolt Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 I don't criticise players a such as I know confidence plays a massive part in any performance, and when your low I believe it can impact your game by 20/30% sometimes. I'm really not sure though what's going on with him though, bouncing on the back of his best season, big contract, England squad, every kids wants your match attack card rather than you just being another card in the collection! .... this should surely fire you up to maintain your level, he's modelled his entire career on striving to improve year after year. This year sadly he has become a shadow of himself and is playing purely on last years reputation for me. The lack of service doesn't help, but you have to make you own space or pull the defenders about a bit even that helps, but when you are so static (Which is what shocked me at Derby away), he's hardly helping his own cause. I'd be inclined not to start him at the minute and to bring him on as sub to try and re-boot his brain, even annoy him a bit at being dropped to see if it can bring the fire back.

Ric Flair Posted 30 January 2017 Posted 30 January 2017 The man has only scored in 1 game in his last 21 games, that is pure filth.
