Bob Weasel Fox Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Not as much as NP would have at this stage

We need a change, because right now this is almost on par with Taylor Oh yeah, I remember under Taylor when we were in the last 16 of the champions league, look things are bad now but please lets not be so hyperbolic

He won us the premier league, jesus, he gave us the greatest day ever in the history of the club, of course he is legend. I am sick and tired of the amount of flack Claudio is getting on these boards, people are talking like he is a totally clueless failure who is ruining our club, he won us the premier league title, talk about entitled jeeeeez this is ridiculous. I can totally see why people want to go and criticism of things on the field this season is 100% valid but some people on this board are treating our greatest ever manager in a totally unfair way

Claudio has only "walked away" or resigned from one job - I think that was Roma, his home town club. Most of the other managerial jobs he has had have been characterised by an initial great turnaround and improvement in the first 12-18 months followed by a falling out with either players or autocratic club ownership (that's not the case with King Power). He is stubborn and dignified and I am sure he will not resign, that admits failure to him. He will need to be sacked before he goes so it depends now on either Vichai's faith or business reason. I don't think he can afford for this (relegation) to happen to King Power's image despite his personal admiration for the manager. I think we are performing as badly as Villa were last year and look what they are doing now, languishing in the league below.
GloverFox Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 I think we are actually agreeing oxtonfox as when I say let him walk in quotes my implication is he will indeed have to be pushed, but I think out of loyalty the club will provide him a way of looking as if it's his agreement to part ways .. but your spot on with the image damage and totally that Villa are in a bad way at present but we/the Club must act quickly now ... turning this around may take a while and times starting to run out!
Ian S Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 As I posted last week, he is sleepwalking to relegation with the laughing and joking press conferences ,so reminiscent of Holloway who never spotted the danger until it was too late. At the start of the season would have offered 5000-1 that I would say it, but he has to go!
foxy boxing Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 i'm sorry but managers should be judged on a season to season basis and this season Claudio has made mistakes(he's admitted to it) and has failed to get the squad even slightly interested in the league. instead he has made things worse for the team and himself. players having a good game are dropped for the next one! players off form playing regularly!. too much of an imbalance to the squad! after last season i would have settled for mid table obscurity but not this!

I'm talking about those who cross the white line. But I do think the manager has made some serious errors of judgment.
Guest Col city fan Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Credit has ran out now. Last night, in fact.

midland_red Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 For me he has - sadly - been in the red for several weeks now. Unfortunately this does not matter since he can draw on a vast overdraft facility: the owners belief that it would be dishonorable to force him out

I didn't say he wasn't. And as per my posts above not so much about Claudio as some players who give the appearance of having downed tools. But, in any event, over used at the moment when we need to think about the here and now.

He could stand on the touchline bollock naked doing headstands while we never score another goal and he'd still be a legend.

Donut Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 Credit in the bank is a ridiculous term. He won the premier league. In doing so 1) he made himself a club legend and 2) he showed he is a bloody good football manager. His "credit" is limitless. The issue is, is he the man to lead this side now or not. In THIS situation. I personally dont think binning him will cure all ills at the club and the issues run deeper. But thats nothing to do with his so called accumulated "credit"
Corky Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 You have to separate the two seasons. Last season he was magnificent at his job, we coped brilliantly with the pressure. This season has been the complete opposite. Sacking him does not mean we hate the man, it means we feel at this time someone else can do a better job in this situation. Last season will always be remembered and we should always be thankful to him, but we can't be sentimental.
Koke Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 It's amazing that most people on here are practically in a unanimous agreement that he needs to go. When an entire fan base are in agreement about sacking a title winning manager then you know it's bad.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 The result next Saturday, will I think, decide whether he stays or goes. Nothing short of a win will do. The players need to stand up and be counted.
SecretPro Posted 13 February 2017 Posted 13 February 2017 The likelihood of Ranieri being sacked right now is zero. Fans may have to force the issue themselves if the Chairman is to take any notice. When we still chant Ranieris name every game the owners are going to think everything is dandy. Can't see anything happening until everyone becomes a boo boy or starts protesting, which though I want change, would be a sad way for Claudio to go out.
