koop. Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 The memory of a football fan has always been short, but never ever forget the last 10+ years at Leicester City. Our club has given me some of the highest highs and the lowest lows in my 30 years of following this truly wonderful club. This season has been very poor, players have gone missing, cracks have started to appear and the management of the entire things has been questionable at best - however, sometimes i think people forget just how enormous our recent achievements have been and although it is horrendous to see us on the slide we're currently on, as a true Leicester City fan, we are still in a much better place than where we've been for the majority of my lifetime. - WE WON THE PREMIER LEAGUE (How on earth did we do that!) - We are in the knock out stages of the Champions League (Leicester City?! - I'm still dreaming) - We are still in the FA cup - We are not (yet) doomed to relegation - We have solid owners and good finances (When was the last time in many decades you could say that?) - We have, no matter how poor this season, a solid squad - We have a manager who deserves nothing but respect - We've won the Championship & League One titles in recent years - We used to be a mediocre mid-table championship side (at best) - We used to be in financial ruins - We used to have an awful squad of very poor players - We used to chop and change managers like the Scottish weather The club has grown from strength to strength in recent years and i just think that sometimes people are never happy - we won what is arguably the biggest competition in club football, i still can't believe it and no matter what happens, we will see brighter days again AND we will always have this....... I love our club
foxy boxing Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 there is always another football fan and another football club doing worse than yours. we at Leicester are just so used to extremes bad or good. it would be extremely boring at another club wouldn't it!
Monsell1976 Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 This is what makes me laugh with the forest and derby fans taking the piss, yes things are bad, but look at the state of them. I rather be a Leicester fan, even if we are relegated, rather than the shambles of a club like forest.
Nugent Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 We won't have as good finances in six months time with no TV money and a load of players on £70k+ per week in the Championship
koop. Posted 14 February 2017 Author Posted 14 February 2017 Absolutely that, Leicester love a good up and down story. Stability is boring, right?! I just think we should be thankful for everything this current crop have given us. I would be absolutely gutted if Ranieri went, build that man a statue and bury him with King Richard when the time comes.

Ted Maul Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 I agree with most of it, but we've never really been a mediocre mid-table Championship side. We're a perennial yo-yo team, one extreme to another. Stability isn't in the LCFC vocabulary; we're usually either on a good run or a bad run, and rarely in the middle.

I am disgusted with this season and how the club is being run from the academy through to the first team. I am also apoplectic with the likes of John Rudkin. A clear out is needed and to rebuild. If we are relegated then a nucleus of Chilwell, Elder, Benalouane, Amartey, Ndidi, Gray, Kapustka, Barnes, Lawrence, Ulloa, Albrighton, Matty James and a couple of others I've forgotten about is fine by me.
mozartfox Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 What is difficult to accept is this recent run of poor results and frankly piss poor performances by the majority of the squad. Two years ago, we were down the bottom for a long period but still showing signs of life. Currently, we are on life support with a surgeon not knowing how to cure the sick patient. If we can see effort instead of the current pathetic dross, then perhaps the fans on here might get behind the team again.

He might buy us a beer and give us doughnuts now and then, but he's not giving you or I any of his 3 billion pound empire. There was a report in the mercury about how our players face large pay cuts if we're relegated, and TOP can certainly still afford to finance us if that's the case. We're not Norwich and Vichai certainly isn't Delia.

Apart from the season we got promoted and of course the season we were in League 1, I think i worked out our average Championship finish was 12th. It certainly felt mediocre and midtable when we were going through it. with the exception of a season or two here and there (post MON days and pre 2014)

Leicester City is that Rollercoaster you step on at an early age and what ever you do and want to do to stop it you just cant, so you might as well just keep enjoying the highs and when you hit a low wait for that next loop the loop to hit you because it will happen don't you worry about that!

Is this fact? I really hope so, we do have the makings of a bright future if we can hold onto the core of young players that have come into the club, a lot depends on the terms within each contract and the guilt complex some players with heart may feel (Muzzy Izzet comes to mind, unfortunately so does Robbie Savage)

I don't think the finances are the biggest issue (the owners have deep pockets anyway) but rather the complexity of trying to rebuild a cohesive team quickly. We could throw silly money around and still be in the Championship 3 years from now.

Mark 'expert' Lawrenson Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 The Championship is such a tough league to get out of, if we were to go down I'd like to think we could do a Newcastle and come straight back up and enjoy a promotion party again, but for every Newcastle there's a Villa.
Vestan Pance Posted 14 February 2017 Posted 14 February 2017 I think we're very lucky to have people running our club who are more ambitious than some of it's supporters. If they had come in thinking "There's always another club worse off" then we'd never have been promoted let alone won it. They set their sights on the top English clubs, we can only thank them for raising our expectations.
