Can some people get a grip

Ranieri's heart felt statement while very sad is in my opinion a calculated attempt to stir further sh1t amongst staff and fans.

It is a very emotional statement playing on the heart strings of many understandably, but the reaction from some of our fans, media pundits, other clubs fans is way OTT.

Some of our fans have got to look ahead the financial implications of being relegated cannot be under estimated, so some of you stop crying like babies he had to go, grow a pair and get behind the team or the bitterness surrounding our club will in itself send us down.

Aye all this sentimental shedding of years it's  football not someone dying.

I'm  not a sack the manager  fan as it's  a lottery and has as much chance of failure as success but the choice has been made.

Let's get back to the football.

Not sure it was a calculated attempt to cause problems, but agree with the rest of the post,I said to a friend last night who is a West Ham fan and was giving me pelters over the decision that you could not underestimate the financial implications of relegation.

Can't see that being the case. Maybe I'm wrong about ranieri, but he doesn't strike me as being either that bitter, petulant or machievallian.

The fallen Emperor os a very nice man and he wanted us to know he didn't want this to happen and that he values us as much as we valued him..... IT HAD TO HAPPEN THOUGH

Posted

And what says sacking him is going to stop us getting relegated, apart from rumours there is absolutely no statement to say there was any un rest, if we go down now it's no ones fault but the players

I don't think he's trying to stir anything, but he's clearly got great charm and charisma that has people eating out of his hand.

I'd love to see him in charge of England and see how much the media and neutrals love him after 2 or 4 years haha. Though it seems like he's probably the only man that could fail to qualify for a tournament and still have everybody think he's great.

Amazing how many of you value the financial strength of the club over things such as loyalty and respect.

i don't even mean that as a dig, or being pointed at anyone. But I've seen it so much on here over the past few weeks that it does seem to be what is guiding many people's wishes.

Are we supporting a sports team or a business?

I just can't buy in to a success at all costs narrative. The club has to have principles

Brilliant post!

Well said.

I'm sick of being told we need to do everything because of money or a "financial situation".

Football was much better when the only thing fans had to think about was winning games to try and see your team lift a trophy.

First line of this is nonsense, but the rest is fair.

Rubbish. Ranieri didn't have a clue. Last season everything went well for him - he even admitted he didn't have to change everything. Players were brought in under Pearson and Walsh (Fuchs/Okazaki/Kante) fit into the team well, we picked up very few injuries and we were getting results... But as soon as we got into a mess Ranieri couldn't get us out of it.

Ranieri picked those players consistently. What did they have to do to get dropped?

The players attitude and desire was shocking but Ranieri picked them, selected tactics, style of play and made subs. All of this he got wrong all season. That's added to the fact we haven't brought in better players that have not improved the team.

Nobody is blameless but this attitude of "oh it was the players" is strange. If they were the ones that got Ranieri sacked, then they were the ones that won him the league.

He was unable to motivate the players and ANY player who didn't put in a shift shouldn't have been nowhere near the team but he consistently picked the same players. Managers like Shankly and Clough and Ferguson wouldn't have let players rule because they source the problem and get rid of it - even if that means getting rid of a "star player".

This time last week I was on my way to Millwall. By the time it was 5pm I was shouting for him out. He had no clue this season and showed no signs of being able to get us out of this mess.

Ranieri's farewell message is what it is - a farewell message.

Whether it will stir further trouble amongst fans or staff remains to be seen - why should it?

He comes across as rather dignified and solemn in the face of adversity and chaos. Would you blame him for that? It's a classy exit and I wish some of our players and staff members would use this opportunity to come clean, clear their heads and finally get to work and deliver the unthinkable - avoiding relegation.

We need a mission, a calling. Hopefully, Ranieri's words are incentive enough.

But it is a business, business people run it, sure they always have but it used to be as hobby and they never put their businesses at risk for football and there was never much chance of getting rich off the back of it through either cash or publicity.

If you want football for fun you'd be hard pressed to find it above the weekend amateurs.

I grew up with no segregation where fans applauded excellent play by the opposition yet we still booed and jeered them when they entered the pitch or where appropriate but those days are long gone.

As for loyalty and respect I think our owners have earned that when they didn't sack Pearson even though we were in a much tougher position but the difference is that Pearson still had control and CR disappointingly doesn't making this purely a football decision because not only were we losing but the football was turgid and far from entertaining.

While I disagree on the saying that Claudio had any ill-intentions, I would say that after his statement, some fans felt like he was wrongly done by the players and them being emotional "clouded" their sight and now a lot of them resent the players and view them as backstabbers.

People need to stop, loyalty to the club should be the first priority, I didn't know that this was Claudio FC. All I know is, whoever is at the club should be supported. Claudio is gone. But, the players and the owners are still here, and I know which ones have my support. COYF:scarf::scarf:

See I don't necessarily disagree with The last few points, and can absolutely see the argument for sacking him from a football point of view. Actually I think from a football point of view it's been incredibly hard to make a case for him that isn't leaning on sentiment.

What I find bizarre is how few people are making that argument and instead leaning on finances and their business case for sacking him.

Personally I'm in conflict between the football case and the sentiment case. I see why the decision was made, I just don't like it. I think I'd have rather seen a season in the championship and kept the moral high ground. I think I'm satisfied with last seasons success to take a hit for a while if it means keeping our integrity. Got no beef with anyone who leans on the football and decided with a heavy heart it was best he go.

But **** all of those trying to villify him, strip him of his dignity, discredit his achievements. And **** all of those who would throw him out because they think it's best for the ledger balance.

Edit: I should also add I retained a glimmer of hope that we would turn things around under Ranieri. Which would have been the best outcome for me without doubt. Though that was as much hope as anything else

There have been an exponentially increasing amount of shite threads over the last few weeks imo. This is just the latest.

What a lot of utter guff.

I struggled with this sport/business question for a while when Sven was here. We appeared to be gambling with the clubs future by overspending so soon after our near extinction. Sadly the two are now very much linked, the clubs who have money are generally the successful ones, which amongst other things is what made our story last season so incredible.

I'm sure we'd all agree that we want Leicester City to be successful on the pitch, this comes with the strings of financial stability, I don't like it but it's reality, but with this said I still geniunely believe the horrible decision to let Claudio go will have involved much sentiment, much more than a purely business decision.

Whatever the aftermath of the sacking throws up, it's done now. He's gone.

We've got a fresh start, and we need to capitalise. We need to be loud on Monday- chances are we'll be in the bottom 3 by then, and the team will need all the help it can get. I'm hoping a change in approach will give us a bit of an edge, and if we can get something against Liverpool it could change the mentality completely.

We need to draw a line in the sand- the season starts now.

What's more calculating is a team of players and coaches that downed tools because of change and then went to the owners complaining.

It is my opinion pal. We will see what happens but can't you see the bitterness swirling around our club?

It may send us down.
