not drinky finest game, I reckon he was carried by Kante last season and Ndidi since he arrived, whenever he plays with as a pairing with amartey or kingnew struggle

Schmeichel 6 Let down by the defense but incredible save on Barkley's attempt. We owe him big.

Amartey 5 He's no RB, nothing he can do about that. At fault on the first goal.

Chilwell 5 not his best game, not his worst though.

Benalouane 4 His worst game until now. Hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes. I'd still take him over Morgan any day.

Huth 5 As with the rest of the defense, a day to forget.

Albrighton 6.5. Worked hard, got a (lucky) goal. A lot of wasted crosses and passes though. One of the best players on the pitch.

Drinkwater 4 Always one of those who get away with murder on FT. He was poor today (like the previous games) and should've never been on the team sheet. Might be due to the injury he seems to carry but I'd be happy if we sign a quality CM this summer.

King 4 Extremely poor. No contribution forwards and easily passed by defensively. Not goot enough at PL level.

Gray 6.5. An assist. At last. Great run for the equalizer. Faded away as time went by.

Vardy 6 Ran as much as he could. No service from the midfield.

Slimani 6.5 Worked hard defensively, ice cold finish. Still slagged off and underrated (see ratings and post-match thread) by totally biased fans on FT.

Subs:

Mahrez 5 Very quite game. Wiped a couple of good crosses (notably for Ulloa's header) but still very little presence. Hopefully he'll raise his game against Madrid but I'm starting to lose hope.

Musa 5.5 Some good runs but still very lightweight.

Ulloa 6 For a guy who didn't play since forever, he was quite sharp and should have had a goal. I'd say good game.

Craig Shakespeare: 7. Rested key players, made the right subs. We'll see if the gamble will pay off on Wednesday.

Referee 6 I thought he was actually good. No wrong decisions, but a little too lenient when it came to yellows.

Everton 7 They are a good side. Loved their pressing. Losing to them with the b team is not surprising. Shit fans though.

May I ask why? Benny is a centre-back who often loses his man in the box for set-pieces and crosses. Today, this directly resulted in us conceding two goals but in Madrid it could result in Atletico scoring five. Morgan is more of a limited defender, he's not going to do any fancy passes but he hasn't lost his man in the box since Claudio was in charge and throws his body in the way of an incredible amount of shots. Personally, I'd feel significantly more comfortable with Morgan at the back but I'm interested to hear why you would prefer Benny.

He had a poor game today but still did well in the previous ones. He has to work on defending at set pieces but should I remember you how many goals we conceded on free kicks or corners with Morgan at the back? How many times did he let his man go? Since the new no grappling rule was introduced, Morgan and Huth became shite at defending on set pieces. The only thing that changed since Shakey took over (agressive high pressing) is that the defense is under less pressure thus conceding less of them.

People are already wanting Morgan back, I don't. Benny is clean at the getting the ball out of the box and doesn't treat it like a bomb. An attack begins from your own box and it's crucial to have CBs who are are calm and try to pass Forward rather than hoof to nowhere. Sick of seeing Morgan sky rocketting the ball as soon as he get it.

A good CB signing in the summer is an absolute must though.

Kasper 5- Distribution was very poor today and maybe needs to take more command from set pieces. He's been brilliant this season though and this is just an off day hopefully

Amartey 5- Simply not a right back. Doesn't offer anything going forward either. Played better second half but certainly not the right back cover we need

Benalouane 4- At fault for most of their goals which is a shame as he's impressed me lately. Hope Wes I'd fit for Wednesday

Huth 5- Not commanding enough yesterday. Don't know if the booking affected him

Chilwell 4- Months ago I was calling for him to be first choice but you can see now that he ain't ready to take that away from Fuchs. Looks nervous and doesn't link up as well with Albrighton as Fuchs does

Gray 5- Got the assist but other thanight that was quiet

King 4- Don't like to use the foxestalk clichés but he was invisible yesterday. Sadly no presence in the top league

Drinkwater 4- Doesn't look like himself at all recently

Albrighton 7- Motm again. The only city player to look properly on it

Vardy 5- Didn't get involved anywhere near as much as usual. Mind elsewhere maybe?

Slimani 5- Took his goal expertly but frustrated me for the rest of the game. Don't know why we have him defending set pieces as he did nothing to try and prevent them. Not convinced yet unfortunately

Subs n/a

Shakespeare 6- Understandable selection. Would have liked to have seen DD rested but god knows who for. At 2-1 up could we have changed our approach?

Ref 3- Home bias and really whistle happy. Got the Huth booking wrong imo

Everton 7- Passed it about OK and always looked like scoring.  Feel we could've beaten them with Wilf,  Fuchs and Simpson playing

He had decent games v Liverpool and Sevilla but overall he's been very poor since October. He has no challengers to his position. We need to sign a CM to either challenge him or replace him. I'm getting quite fed up with his aimless hoofs and giving possession away needlessly in midfield.

Right now Ndidi is our best midfielder and we need to look for a partner for him in the summer.

I'd argue that Huth hoofs it far more than Morgan, but I think we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

You're right to say that a good CB signing in the summer is paramount, hopefully we don't leave it until the last minute.

I'm right with you.

Still scratching my head about his case. The injury argument doesn't hold any water since, like you said, he's been poor all the season. He's frustating to watch as refuses to take any initative forward and just side or back passes.

Yesterday I saw Mahrez trying to combine with him some quick one twos but instead he just took the ball, killed the momentum before making a pointless side pass. Not to Forget his blunder near our box in the first half which could have cost us a goal.

What has been wrong with Drinkwater recently? Been absolutely terrible the past 4 games or so.

I've read a few times that he is playing with a knock. Probably getting worse with every game.

I find it hard to believe. Why didn't he get rested then? Play Simpson and push Amartey in the middle. It wouldn't have made any difference and the match was already written off as loss anyway. Why would Shakey risk to lose him completely?

We're going 451 in Madrid with a midfield 3 of king, amartey and ndidi.

Danny was gutted so played like a dick.

Poor Benny, called out on MOD2 as responsible in all four Everton goals. Drinky, not sure what he is trying to do these days as nothing is the result.
