Guest Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Just a shame Scotland voted unionist and blue as it will probably just see Torys and DUP coalesce into governmemt. Just need to get a second election so corbyn can finish the job with a proper labour team around him (ie no abbot)
reynard Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Absolutely no winners in this. May Completely out of it, useless and surely on borrowed time. Corbyn Credit to his campaign and did better than expected but still lost. Question is this as good as it gets for him can he really win enough seats to be PM not sure myself Lib Dems Very poor effort Bad campaign reflected in poor vote share SNP any party that loses a third to half its seats has had a disastrous night and its leader should resign. Minor parties. This looks like a return to the bad old days of the 1970s of two party politics both of whom were useless and incapable of forming stable governments ending up in the mess of 1979. If you are a supporter of minor parties last night was bad news. The Country now in a very tricky position on Brexit with no stable mandate to negotiate and a laughing stock prime minister. A governing party pretty much held to ransom by 10 DUP members who are even more right wing than the Tories. I can't see any alternative but to hold another election within the next 12 months, no way can I see a minority government surviving. The good news of the night was the re-engagement in poltics of the younger generation. This is to be both welcomed and encouraged and credit should go to Corbyn for this.
Finnegan Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 You have to love that for a bit of stereotyping. A Tory MP called Crispin complaining the electorate got it wrong.
Number 6 Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 People saying there are no winners but I'd be pretty smug if I was John Curtice right now
AKCJ Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 I'm so glad that us young uns got off our arses and voted. We let the country down in 2015 (43% in 2015 vs 72% in 2017). Hopefully the other parties will continue to engage with us in the future. Bravo to Corbyn.
Nick Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 So. Every left wing politician saying May can not continue... she'll be digging a trench right now as if she goes that means another election right? She will stay and form a coalition with the DUP sadly as even Boris Gove and Davies won't want another election as they might lose the government all together.
The Floyd Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Youth voter turnout appears to have been debunked, the actual figure won't be ready for days apparently.

Guest Foxin_mad Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 I would let Labour run the country now as a minority government. Let them **** it up which they will, all the young ***** will soon change their mind when the country runs out of money and their iPhones and Face**** stop working. Perhaps they should have read a bit of history and spent a bit of time looking into Corbyns socialist utopia of Venezuela instead of reading facebook. As soon as the economy tanks it in a few years make a come back. They deserve everything they get.

If the Tories enter a coalition with the DUP then Labour will win a landslide whenever the next election takes place. This generation of Tories are done.

Guest Foxin_mad Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Let it happen. Cant wait to see all the young moaning when the Internet doesn't work, we have no electricity and there are no iPhones in the country because Apple has withdrawn from the UK. It will be ****ing hilarious.

David Davis is a smart guy and will know this campaign and the votes won were about May and May alone. To swoop in and take the helm, he'll be voted down on everything and he certainly cant call another election. A minority Labour government on the other hand can come in and either bury themselves quickly, or give Davis enough time to put the Conservative credibility back together, actually get a manifesto and election plan that the public will swallow in place, then when an election is called in 6-9 months time, they'll clean up.
