Vacamion Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Bloody democratic deficit. Scottish Tory votes imposing a government on England. Tsk.
Bobby Hundreds Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Going to relish shouting "Will of the people!" at anyone who seems slightly crestfallen at this result.

Finally someone chose to engage the future generations of this country instead of ignoring them and look what happened. It's not a win but it's a big shake up and the government will need to pay more attention to young people in the future.
RobHawk Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Strong and stable, what does that really look like? Trigger article 50, start the process for the biggest political decision of a lifetime. Then decide you need a mandate from the voters whilst also aiming for an increased majority! **** up your campaign, be arrogant, refuse to debate and take the electorate for mugs. Lose your majority and potentially put the country in a hole over brexit! Strong and stable? My Arse!
The Guvnor Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 The Tories have fcuked this up on a monumental scale, I don't believe it was a anti Brexit vote as the only party to offer a true way back in was the Libs and they bombed out. This is a result of a total miscalculation from TM and her advisors in almost every dept, but especially the dementia tax and her persistence that nothing had changed then she mentioned the cap but couldn't tell us what it was, plus the reluctance to commit to the triple lock pension agreement. She has learnt a salutary lesson you don't bite the hand that feeds you. The only satisfying thing about last night was watching people like Yvette Cooper squirm when asked if they had got it wrong with JC. The sad thing is there are no real winners here and the Country is back to square one what a fcuking mess.
stripeyfox Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Like it or not, facebook has become the new political battleground. Which means the messages (however accurate or inaccurate they may be) is reaching to the younger age groups who traditionally couldn't be arsed to vote.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 The Labour Party is back. Midland and Northern marginals have been won by working class former UKIP voters who recognise their community has been ****ed over by 35 years of Thatcherism and massive majorities have been overturned in the cities by educated young people who have been equally ****ed over by handouts to middle class baby boomers. Such a great movement working together for shared interests.

I dont think it's been a "can't be arsed" thing for low youth turnout, it's been an disenfranchisement thing - they didn't really own their registration, they just got registered when they turned 18; and individual registration solves that, combined with very few policies being geared towards young people - there's almost a "can't back any of these when they don't care about me" attitude. A leader who recognised that and spoke to them has turned that around.
Guest Kopfkino Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 Just in from working on the ITV coverage, was ****ing awesome to do and loved every minute of it. Now waiting for May to go. Says a lot that she has no intention of resigning, she is very much getting pushed by the party from what I've heard.

Thats why the young have voted this time

She called an unnecessary election to strengthen her hand, and wiped out not only the 20% polling lead she had but her parties existing majority. Surely even the most ardent may supporter has to admit she's a disaster?
Bobby Hundreds Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 I really don't think the public has any appetite for Boris, Gove or Davis. Surely the Tories have something better to offer?

She was a better option than Leadstrom, and the others all screwed themselves over. Clearly lots of of the Tory vote stayed away here, I doubt many of them voted Labour.

foxes_rule1978 Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 May blew it big time, she must go asap! Corbyn took her to the cleaners

I'd assume that may herself is at least an ardent may supporter; but I've seen a fair few nodding along at her school ma'am running the country sensibly image (although far more making jokes about how while the last lady wasn't for turning, this one will beat you to it)
foxes21 Posted 9 June 2017 Posted 9 June 2017 We have the Conservatives regulated & restrictive internet policies to look forward to.
