But Manchester City have enormeous purchase power, dosh in abundance. Btw, £40m is about 45 million Euro. The transfer fee is also based on the player's age and younger prospects (Silva is three years younger than Mahrez) do usually command a higher asking price. Monaco spent about £150m on Falcao, Rodriguez, Moutinho & Toulalan 3 years ago. They've got loads of money. If it was the other way round you know that Monaco would be rubbing their hands together expecting £10-15m more than his current value. It's ridiculous. They may value Mahrez at £25m but unfortuanlty it takes two teams to complete a deal. For example, Leicester wouldn't rate Troy Deeney at £35m but Watford do. It's about trying to find a middle ground. Also, Monaco were buying from a Portuguese club who may not have the money or resources to be able to turn it down. They received €70m for both Moutinho and James. The only reason we will sell is because Mahrez wants to leave, not because we have too. Also, Sissoko plays RM for Spurs & did so for Newcastle. I read from Son arrivée devrait être officialisée dans les prochaines heures (my french a little rusty) And that he's already signed a contract with Monaco from the previous paragraph. Seems BS to me surely this would have made bigger news sites. If somehow Monaco have managed to milk Man Citeh for 70m euros for Silva then I can see this possibly happening but not so quickly. I think we will all miss Mahrez when/if he's gone and hope he stays. But if he does go to France then that would be easier to swallow than another premier league side.
