He's a 'legend' because he's been at the club for so long. He's a 'legend' because he played a few games last season and everyone in that squad will forever be a 'legend'. He isn't a Weller/Worthington/Walsh/Lineker type 'legend' imo.

How can he not be a complete legend in every meaning of the word? He's eclipsed the names you've mentioned because of the trophies he's won here and it's not even close.
hackneyfox Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Words fail me if you believe that, they all regularly produced something on the pitch.

hackneyfox Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Strange that for such a gifted player and a legend at the current PL Champions that other teams aren't trying to buy him, especially when he hardly gets much first team football.
hackneyfox Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Just now, AKCJ said: Enough said. I've already said that he's a legend as he was part of last seasons squad. He's still failed to regularly contribute something positive when he actually plays. How many players are on your list of 'legends' and where is King placed on it?

Andy King is well up there with Steve Walsh and the rest of the title winning squad. The MON squads are next and following that are the long list of great players we've had in our history who haven't actually won anything.
Julian Joachim Jr Shabadoo Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Andy King is easily in the legend bracket. No one's saying he's our most skillful player ever but he's stuck with us through thick and thin and always gives 100%. Obviously a positive influence amongst his peers, a thoroughly decent bloke by all accounts and a true professional. Legend
VLC86 Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 I'm almost 100% certain it would be Ranieri signings V Steve Walsh signings. Hes coming home, he's coming home he's coming Gohkans coming home. ps imagine a world where our fans don't love Andy King.
hackneyfox Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Perhaps he's stuck with us through thick and thin because nobody else has ever tried to sign him?
Beliall Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 You don't have to be Messi to be a legend. Our own Andy King is a legend. He's been a solid player for us for many years now, hugely underrated. He has survived so many managers, who all, by the way, played him in the squad. and no one tries to buy him because he would , A never leave , and B is hugely underrated

Depends on the price and the wheather it's for charity which I think will dictate if people go or not,but if the can get 5k plus for them so called celebrity games at a tenner a throw then kings shud easily get 15k there for his testimonial

RussianFox Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 Sometimes it seems that some people here think it was/is like this: NP: Andy is shit, right, but I will constantly use him anyway. CR: King is sooo shit and a Championship level player at best, so I will use him as a starter or a sub 29 times in a miracle season. CS: omg, how this useless piece of ... is still in the team?? Ok, I will use him in a CL quarter-final game then. Behave.

rn9013 Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 I'd definitely go to one for him. Any city fan of more than 10 years surely has nothing but the utmost respect for this guy. In 25 years time I'm sure he won't be the first name reeled off from this crop amongst city fans, but he is a true club legend in his own right. To stay with one club for over 10 years in this day and age is almost unheard of, particularly when you consider our rise to the top in recent years! To win league 1, the championship and the PL in a career is unique, let alone with one club.

Top scoring midfielder in history, and to do so during LCFC's greatest period, is staggering. Some don't consider him a legend? Laughable really.

He scored most of the goals in the second and third divisions. Top scoring midfielders PL Record: P70Goals 5Assists 1
filbertstreet Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 should andy king start on the bench for his testimonial though

Highest goalscorer is superb and I like King but the likes of Walsh and Izzet were that important/legendary to us that they played every week. King has scored some important goals for us, I remember being at Preston away when he scored to seal our play off place (brilliant that), but he's more of a favourite/icon than a legend for me. I personally wouldn't put him in the same category as the likes of Walsh.
Dr The Singh Posted 8 May 2017 Posted 8 May 2017 So happy for the guy, for a bang average player, he has given his all and achieved so much. A testament to any professional
