"Nah, lets go for the big money... $300 dollars in Bitcoin. Just think how many Pokemon and WOW power ups we could buy with that!"

Danizen Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 Hopefully GCHQ get called in and these twats rot. The NHS is already struggling. The disruption this will cause could easily put lives in danger. And for what? $300? FFS.
Innovindil Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 As if they aren't under enough stress without this bullshit. Wtf is even $300 to someone that they would endanger people's lives.

DJ Barry Hammond Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 @Voll Blau - have to hand it to them, the timing and subject content couldn't have been more funny!
The Horse's Mouth Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 maybe it was diane abbott and she was actually trying to ask for $30000

"Nah, lets go for the big money... $300 dollars in Bitcoin. Just think how many Pokemon and WOW power ups we could buy with that!" bitcoin is used in ransomware as it is untraceable and non refundable. 1 bitcoin is currently worth $1776. its basic ransomware someone has opened and since its on a vast network its spread like wildfire. its not a cyber attack just some twat has opened one of them dodgy emails.
m4DD0gg Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 I have worked at an NHS trust in their IT environment and the attitude towards IT security was pathetic so this does not surprise me. There attitude was 'we sit behind the main NHS firewall so we are fine'.........Not today lads. Some of the shit that went down was mind boggling. Banks are only slightly better. Incredible to imagine at least 3 of the top banks in the UK's IT architecture and security is either unknown or so poorly managed that is more luck that things do not go wrong more often.
yorkie1999 Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 Blimey, i always imagined a major cyber attack to have robots and armed drones with laser guns blasting fvck out of everything not powered by a battery, not pay us 300 bitcoins else the stashed photos gets it.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 Who's been snooping on dodgy websites on their NHS computer then?

LiberalFox Posted 12 May 2017 Author Posted 12 May 2017 It's the sort of thing you get from trying to download tentacle porn, the real scandal is if this has spread to multiple systems as it would indicate terrible security. I'd imagine some private IT firms seeing ££££ signs.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 12 May 2017 Posted 12 May 2017 Apparently lots of companies in Spain ?? including Telefonica have been affected by the same thing.
