Livid Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 I wasn't going to bother. It'll be Labour, and I have serious doubts about Corbyn, but he seems an honest guy with decent policies, wether he can deliver who knows? I know May isn't who I want running this country, she just hasn't got what it takes. In retrospect I despise and admire Thatcher in equal measure, the only thing her and May have in common is their gender and the colour of the rosette.
SheppyFox Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 Labour so I get better benefits. Just joking, I work so I'll vote conservative.
Rincewind Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 I am Humanitarian. There is no one political party that covers that. It is a shame that some feel that wanting fairness and equality is a bad thing. Politics is all about those in power persuading the people that what they want and the people want are the same thing.

I saw a good similar quote in a book years ago. It was something like "A politician should never lie, but they should seldom tell the truth" That certainly seems to be what we're getting at the moment.
Rincewind Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 Did you know that one MP is not allowed to call another a liar in the HOC? So in theory they can give out any figures or say what they like. They also cannot wear armour or speak Welsh. In fact my late brother was involved with a local political party and he said he was told me that MP's often lied when in their offical capacity and it was accepted. He turned down the offer because he felt he could not do this.

A little later the price surged as we all knew it would. He told the market that he was selling and that lowered the price even more. He should have known better to sell off something that is kept for emergencies not plugging a black hole because you've overspent. He didn't care about the financial future of the country. China, Russia and India are buying up lots of gold and silver and Germany have requested all their physical Gold be released from the federal reserve so they have it in their possession. We have nothing when the fiat monetary system collapses and we go to a gold backed currency.(conspiracy theory territory)

I didn't realise that was the special formula on how Tories decide to cast their vote; now it makes sense. I work full time but i'm on annual leave for polling day, does that mean I should vote for Labour or Tory? Or does that mean I vote LibDem? Who best represents the annual leavers?
Rincewind Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 I know someone who hasnt received his poliing card yet. Something to do with the postman unable to count house numbers. Anyway he went to the Labour office on Narborough Rd to find out where his poling staion was only to be told that they were closed until June 8th due to anual leave. No joke.

Depends on a few things, annual income being low(if there is one/carer allowance), more children than said income can provide for and having a sofa on the front lawn. I am ofcourse only poking fun, I'm undecided where to vote, they all strike me as liars.
Vacamion Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 I am struggling with this. I am in an SNP seat, the Conservatives have a chance of stealing it, if the recent council elections and polls are to be believed. I am a Unionist, and I quite admire Ruth Davidson, I've voted "Scottish Conservative and Unionist" before, so voting Tory should be the obvious choice for me, right? Well, I'm deeply uncomfortable with the Conservative position on hard Brexit. I've seen the party lurch to the right in ways that leave me cold. A lot of their candidates down South are utter right wing headbangers. May's campaign has been a disaster. I am impressed with the Libs stance on the Union and Brexit, their proposal to increase tax to fund education, their suggestions to end cannabis prohibition and I find their leader in Scotland, Willie Rennie, to be a lot better than Tim Farron, who, to me is a bit oddball (stuff Farron has said about abortion and homosexuality is beyond the pale for me). Problem is, the libs have no chance in my constituency. So, maybe I'll have to hold my nose and vote Tory, or vote Liberal Democrat despite my misgivings and in the knowledge it may help let the SNP retain the seat. Like Natalie Imbruglia, I'm torn.

Willie Rennie is pretty good. You highlight the problem for many Scottish voters. I think if everyone who is pro-union votes Conservative then there will be left-wingers voting SNP who are simply anti-Tory so I'd encourage people to stick with their ideal preference.
Merging Cultures Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 Would Corbyn be more acceptable if he had a better suit and tamed his beard? Probably. I'd still vote how I'd vote though.
Tielemans63 Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 I'll be voting Labour but with no real conviction. This is total self-interest but I look at what this Tory government has done to education and the damage to my profession and I just cannot possibly vote Conservative, that would be like turkeys voting for Christmas. Those of you working in the private sector may have had a very different experience these last few years (I don't know) but you can only go by your own experience and the destruction of our education system under the Tories has been quite devastating. Labour are pledging to invest £4.8bn whilst the Tories pledge equates to a 3% real terms decrease in already inadequate funding. It's a no brainer for me. The other deciding factor for me is that I see Theresa May as weak and dishonest. She is evasive even by politician's standards. I don't believe Corbyn can or will do a lot of what he says but in terms of policies I'm in favour of re-nationalisation, in favour of raising corporation tax and extra powers for HMRC and ultimately we're all voting for the policies that appeal to us. That said, a cabinet made up of the likes of Dianne Abbott and John McDonnell makes my blood run cold. It really is an abysmal set of choices for the electorate imho and Labour are slightly the lesser of two evils.

I am realistic enough to realise that if by some fluke Labour do get in there will no doubt be some excuse as to why they cannot deliver everything, 'The cupboards bare' Theres not as much as we thought, Brexit cost has gone up, 'MP's need a pay rise. etc. But as the song goes, Two out of Three Aint bad. GaelicFox Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 Quite a big story developing tonight Corbyn has evidence that May is suppressing a report that conclusively proves that Saudi Arabia (her buddies) are funding Terrorism in the UK and west !!! And its the Daily Mail breaking the story in a small way ... now that means it's 100% true

Tielemans63 Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 I like to try and read both right and left wing press and be as informed as possible. It has really struck me over this week that even the Tories biggest supporters and the right wing media have got virtually nothing positive to say about Mrs May and even less to say about the Tory manifesto. It's almost as though there's been a collective realisation that in the glare of public attention Mrs May has been exposed as seriously lacking. The response has been an all out assault on Corbyn's reputation and a concerted attempt to discredit him at all costs and divert from May's inadequacies. It was this morning that I was reading the Telegraph and thought to myself 'Shit, literally every single story is about Corbyn, there's **** all about Theresa May.' While it's obviously a natural reaction (by all sides) to try and denigrate the opposition for me the lack of support for May from traditional Tory advocates is just as damning as anything they can dig up on Corbyn if not more so.
Guest Col city fan Posted 4 June 2017 Posted 4 June 2017 I am literally voting for the NHS. Therefore, Labour.
