We were playing a really bad team yesterday. Lets see what happens next week as i suspect our midfield as lacking as it is will be completely overrun.

United will overrun practically every team they play at OT.. So as you can't make massive judgements about playing the likes of BHA at home , you can't either about playing United away... One will finish Top of the PL and one bottom.

You're both mental. DD is our best midfielder. His form was crap from November last season due to injury. Before that he was just about our onky good player at the start of last year. It amazes me how fickle and blind our fans can be!

Like finnaldo said, it's based on current form. Also drinkwater wasn't just bad from November, he was pretty poor all season, some fans have blinkers on for drinky, if mahrez does one thing wrong he's slated but Danny boy can't do wrong. When he's on form he is probably our best midfielder, but the problem is he's not had that for over a year. It's not about being fickle, it's about what's working now.

Matty has been steady so far but I remember him being a lot more dynamic and 'box to box' before, now he's more of a deep lying playmaker. Preferred him being box to box! Think he probably still has it in his locker, and has been told to play this way. He looks technically head and shoulders above our team, knows where he'll pass it before he gets the ball etc, but also a lot slower than most of our team. Not sure what to make of that, suppose its good to have variety. He's done enough to warrant his place in any case.

It wouldn't be a bad mark against whatever midfield pair we go with next week if they get overrun by a rampant Man U at OT. I think it's too much to expect just 2 in the middle to cope with that, and we may need to bolster it with an extra man.

DD should neither be classed above or below James at the moment in our assessments. Wait a few weeks till things have settled down. With Drinky there are too many unknowns - will he still be with us, will he be distracted by the speculation, is he at full fitness yet, and does he have a niggling injury that may dog him persistently? And with James - how much can he still improve both his fitness and his game contribution the more he plays?

With him missing action for so long I've forgotten James's main qualities but have been pleased to see a few swift, accurate passes out of defence which is what we thrive on. And also good to see back a loyal and strong presence both in the changing room and on the pitch.

Aye, he has probably been told to sit a little and is maybe even slightly "hesitant" through fear of anther injury to really go for it.  I am sure, with a few more games, more match practice at the top level he will get better and better.  Nice to have the option on him, DD and Ndidi at CM as I think they are all good enough.  Throw in Iborra and we look pretty good. I'm not sure why people think that he's being cautious because of his injury, he's had half a season at Barnsley and a full pre-season with us. Should be no excuses for his fitness or whether he can play at 100% or not. If he can't play at 100% then what's he doing starting?

Anyway, onto yesterday. Thought he did well enough but seemed to give the ball away a far few times. What he did do well, was when the ball was loose he did seem to drive us 10/15 yards up the pitch before releasing it to someone with a bit more attacking flair.

Since his return he does seem like he's changed his game, being a lot less dynamic. I put that down to being out for so long and the importance we place on our 2 banks of 4. Positionally we are very good at 442 and there were many times yesterday where the entire game was compacted into a very small area from a Brighton kick off as a result.

Yesterday he was solid but unspectacular. Didn't give it away too easily but equally didn't stamp his authority on the game and run it, which I was hoping we would see. Still he got the full 90 and makes me a lot more confident than King or Amartey in that position. The more games he gets the more likely we will see the dynamic side return.

I hope he gets given another 90 midweek.

I expect him to look average / good against poor sides.

Last week at Arsenal they went past him as if wasn't there at times. United will be fast next week and we can't afford to be weak in midfield again.

A voice of reasoned logic among the airheads. Well said. Have a look after next week and you will see what our season will be like, not after beating a  dead cert relegation candidate.

Garbage, playing the team currently smashing all comers will prove no more than playing a shit team.

Our season wont be defined by results at Arsenal or United. It's in the games against middle of the road teams where he and we will be judged and know our level.

I'd say he was definitely told to play that way. Pre season he was bombing on in games so he's still capable. CS has obviously earmarked him to sit a bit more and let N'didi bomb on.

At times he was dropping back so deep he was playing between Maguire and Morgan to help us pass it out from the back.

Given his injury history and the way he had to fight back to full fitness and from the little that I've seen of him this season (including pre-season), James does strike me as more active and influential in midfield than King, for instance.

Sometimes, I wonder what a fraction of our fanbase is expecting under such circumstances. The same old Matty James he was before the spring of 2015?

Won't happen and he's now two years older, the body does take a certain toll.

I'm simply glad he's been able to recover and is back in the first team. We can use every single central midfielder that we have in our squad.

(That's not me saying King is bad, I'd simply like to see him in a more advanced position where he can do more damage)

That's just your opinion, garbage though it may be.

Read what you put.

You can't basically suggest how we perform against the likes of Brighton isn't an indicator but how we perform against united is. They are both extremes, one currently excellent and one currently poor.

I love james...... but we must be wary of having no cover... none can say if his injury will repeat

He's a good option, but I want DD still here and playing. Having the four vying for the starting spots is good (I'm excluding king and Mendy).
