Guest Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Gordon Banks is the best player in our history and he won a world Cup medal so has to be 1 of the 4. I'd say that Shilton and Lineker are probably 2 and 3 since I started watching the city (end of 60's) probably there is a good argument though for Rowley and other older players. That means there is really only 1 spot for somebody from the MON and Ranieri eras. I guess Vardy or Ranieri were the faces of the title winners which would be sad for Walshie, Elliot, Wortho, Muz, Mahrez and plenty of others. For Manchester United or Liverpool or Arsenal it must be incredibly hard to pick 4.
General Smuts Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Any one of the below would work, Rowley - Chandler - Cross - Black Lineker - Banks - Shilton - Birch Worthington - Weller - Wallington - Whitworth Heskey - O'Neill - Izzet - Walsh King - Ranieri - Vardy - Morgan
Fox92 Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Lineker has got to be in given all he's done for the club, including putting in his own money when we were in admin. True legend.

cityfanlee23 Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Nige - Without him we would be somewhere around the championship, set us up for the greatest achievement in our history. Ranieri - Self explanatory Vardy - Self explanatory Schmeichel - Could have left this club if he wanted, he's had interest from HUGE clubs such as AC Milan and easily could have got his move if he wanted, instead he's stayed and helped build us into a team known across the planet. Obviously there are loads of candidates from days gone by, Worthington, Chandler, Walshy, but none of them compare to winning the league as we did, at a time where the big clubs are spending amounts we could never have dreamt of.
Captain... Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 If we can only have 4 faces, then how about a few composite faces, Lineker's ears, Vardy's chin, King's mouth, Ranieri's eyes with the little round glasses, Albrighton's nose and Mahrez's hair all on Huth's big square head...

Winning the title was fantastic and maybe we should have a mural of the team but a mount rushmore is for the 4 greatest players (or managers if you want) in the History of Leicester City. TBH I don't think the players we have at the moment (other than King) have been here long enough to deserve the accolade. It's my same problem with Ranieri whom I love. Vardy has to be the closest simply because of his goal scoring feat and turning down the Arsenal offer which to me means he'll be here for the rest of his contract. Mahrez wants out (after 1 good season), Kanté did a runner after 1 season and Morgan really isn't in our top 5 CBs of all time is he? I think (if Mahrez stays and re-finds his form) we should have a statue of him combining with Vardy whilst Kanté or someone looks on outside the ground but Mt. Rushmore has to be players who were top and gave the best part of their careers to Leicester.

I also feel it needs to be someone you can only associate with Leicester, so Lineker, Banks, Shilton, Morgan, Heskey all have strong associations with other clubs. Vardy and Schmeichel despite playing for a number of other clubs are only really known as Leicester players (atm), and of course, King, Walsh, Izzett who spent virtually all of their career at Leicester.

Kitchandro Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Depends. If we're going for icons who would be recognised by fans of other clubs then: Banks, Ranieri, Vardy, Lineker. But from a fans point of view I'd probably put Chandler in instead of Lineker. Talking about Leicester City goalscoring, Chandler has to be in ahead of Lineker. This would be such a cool idea actually. Maybe not Mt Rushmore style but we should have faces of legends around the ground.
ScouseFox Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 king, vardy, lineker & some old guy so our old fans don't cry about old people being better than new people even though they're obviously not

The thing is, I can see where you're coming from, but I don't think you can say they're one of the clubs biggest legends because they were in the squad that won the league. I mean would you put Simpson in there?! There's always going to be a bit of fortune involved in that, you've obviously got to be lucky enough to join the club at the right time. Banks is undoubtedly a bigger legend than Schmeichel for me. With all due respect to Kasper (who is a Leicester legend in his own right), Banks is one of the greatest goalkeepers of all time, won the world cup and he played most of his career with us. Also, did we actually receive any serious bids from Milan for Schmeichel? And Nigel did an unbelievable job for us, but then again so did Brian Little. Both managers left the club with it struggling towards the bottom of the Premiership. People need to remember that Pearson didn't win us the league, we finished 14th under him. If Hollowhead had come back after Pearson and we got relegated would Pearson be held in as high a regard as your post suggests? Matt Gillies got us to finish 6th and 4th, Willie Orr to 2nd. Why is Pearson regarded higher than them? Is it their fault the managers who took over after them didn't do a great job?

Yeah I agree, I'm probably thinking emotionally as it was during my time as a leicester fan (not long after relegation from the prem when little was gone) I appreciate what you're saying, knocking it all down to 4 players is damn hard.
stripeyfox Posted 23 August 2017 Author Posted 23 August 2017 Huth and Pearson would be easier to carve, with both having square heads. Vardy's chin would probably collapse under it's own weight after a couple of decades
the fox Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 Kinda surprised the only PFA poty in the history of the club is being left out, I maybe a bit biased but the most decorated player in the history of the club should be up there!
the fox Posted 23 August 2017 Posted 23 August 2017 For this era, it's Claudio, riyad, vardy and king!
