He did pressure the safe... replay shows him pressuring azpi hence the slide back pass to the keeper for vardy to intercept and get the penalty... if he'd left azpi alone the ball would've been cleared easily

No it's not a replay. What you have seen is a match of the day highlight which doesn't show at any point how he came to the point where he pressured the defender.

Sounds more like you're on a witch hunt mate.

From what i saw he pressurised him, even continuing to run at azpi is pressuring to play the ball quicker

I have no problem with gray and would be happy to see him get game time and see what he can offer, I was just using facts from being at the game and seeing what happened, not just an opinion based on match of the day. For some reason you feel the need be overly protective of someone and continue this conversation for no reason. We disagree that's fine by me

Can't believe that some aren't giving him any credit for the pen. Definitively tracking back better as well and looking stronger.

He deserves credit for fighting to get the ball into the dangerous areas as good things happen when you get the ball deep into the 18 yard box through serendipity, not just skill. In this case the error made by Azpilicueta was as good as an assist. But it was an error, and there is no way of presenting the buildup to the peno without focusing on the error. Then there are those that try to defend Mahrez by discrediting Gray at every turn.

He's absolutely braindead at times. Constantly making the wrong runs and being in the wrong place, drifted inside countless times yesterday when there was space behind their wingback.

The lad's got plenty to learn before he can be anywhere near as good as he thinks he already is.

If he's braindead then Mahrez must be too cos it looked like he was playing for Chelsea the other day with the way he consistently found a white shirt. Even Charlie Nicholas could see it on Soccer Saturday when he said Mahrez decision making was atrocious against Chelsea.

For the record, Albrighton has been totally anonymous for the last 3 games now but people will want him to stsrt v Huddersfield.

I was at the game, and also watched MOTD. I'm just defending a player who receives a lot of criticism, sometimes unfairly, and i thought he put in a decent shift tracking back, running the channels and playing a key part in the penalty win

Can't fault his words again.

He wants to play and constantly says he has to work hard and prove to the manager he should be starting etc.

New contract was inevitable once he wasn't sold.

Hope he gets more game time this season and starts to make real progress with us. Has the talent, just needs to be more effective with it.

Mahrez created the best chance of the game against Chelsea. Gray was largely shit.

Gray is direct and attacking, Mahrez passed more to chelsea than he did leicester

Given how many times Gray gave the ball away when he came on that's pretty ironic.

I'm not really a fan boy of either, tbh, I can accept they both and pros and cons.

But Mahrez has been in largely excellent form at the start of this season while Gray has looked shocking.

I've not watched the whole game through yet as I haven't had time so can't dispute any of the above but of the highlights I saw didn't Gray put the ball in to Vardy for the penalty?

Just sayin.

Not read all this so sorry if repeating. I thought Gray was playing within himself when he came on. Almost like he'd been told to play safe and not go wildly running off and shooting from distance. He seemed reluctant at times to take players on. Bit in his post match comments Shakespeare said he changed it up so Gray would start running at Chelsea. So it seems he may have been in two minds when he came on

Good. Suits our style really well I think. Mahrez needs to replicate his 2015/16 form if he wants that move because we are clearly not budging on the price and nobody will pay it unless he does, if he isn't up to it (which so far he isn't) then I don't see any sense in starting a player who wants out in Mahrez over a player who clearly wants to be here in Gray. This season will make or break Mahrez now, if he doesn't have a good one then I think his reputation will be completely gone. In which case he'll be begging to stay because the only interest he will generate will most likely be a step down from us. Give him a month to get up to scratch and if he isn't then I'd be well up for dropping him for Demarai. He deserves a run of games, he's been here for nearly two years. #TEAMGRAY
