Finley Parsons Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Disappointing loss today. We fell asleep and Ndidi ball watched. Thought Gray when he came on was selfish and was only playing for himself and not for the team. Should have played the ball to Mahrez earlier and should have played the ball, instead took a hopeless shot to try and impress. I don't know why he is complaining about not getting a game because he doesn't deserve it.
Will1981 Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 can not believe we turned down £20m for him he is so greedy.
DennisNedry Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 He's selfish on the ball without doubt without having the ability (in any consistency) to justify it.
Aus Fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 The problem is when you're given a small time to impress he seems to want to do the big impact things in the hope that will get him a start. As he grows and develops he will realise doing the team thing and playing his game is enough. He is young and will learn and will get better.
SecretPro Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Gray was pants today. Selfish in possession and thinking about only himself in the final third If he had played 'that' ball to Mahrez sooner it would have been a goal, and then later on he had a chance to play Mahrez in and didn't, sickness written all over riyads face. I said it in another thread, I don't rate gray all that, yes he has potential but he needs to prove his worth, if he doesn't then he shouldn't be moaning about game time.
Tielemans63 Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Demi's attitude was not the reason we lost today. Yes he made a mistake by delaying the pass to Mahrez but it's ridiculous to pin the blame for our loss on him. He can't do anything right by some. So he's got a bit of a sulky face, so ****ing what? He frustrates me too but it's very unfair to pin this one on him.
ZeGuy Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Yay let's start a slating thread about one player for a collective defeat.
Webbo Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Maybe if he played every week he wouldn't be so desperate to impress, the thing is we can't afford to give him that time until he learns.
Stadt Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 I don't think it's his attitude but his decision making and awareness. These are issues that should have subsided by now, I don't think it's anything to do with game time either as it's not an experience problem. Players with plenty of experience like Arnautovic or Sturridge are still horrible decision makers. Gray could still change but if anything I believe he's got slightly more selfish in his time here which is a shame because he could become an outstanding player.
Merging Cultures Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Gray's job, as with Mahrez, is to open up space and take a chance when it is on. Gray did that. His shots were pretty weak, but I believe it is what he is told to do.Neither player are supposed to be Okazaki and focus on running their hearts out and passing the ball immediately. Man U may win the league this year. We held them off for most of the game. We didn't look awful and it was great to see creativity from both Mahrez and Gray. Against lesser teams they will rip them a new one.
lgfualol Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Was poor today and still better than Albrighton, whom I can't even remember on the pitch. Needs to get more than 20 minutes a week to actually improve.
Guest the fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Oh boy, is this gonna be another "foxestalk myth"? I liked how he played today, but can't stop thinking of what could've happened if he squared it to riyad faster (just like against at Madrid in the champions league when riyad put a late pass for vardy) What's done is done, now we move forward!!
foxile5 Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 His one mistake was not releasing the ball earlier when running through. I think it was for Vardy, can't remember. That was inexperience though.
Koke Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Was I watching a different game? We looked far more likely to score with Gray on the field than Albrighton. Yes he needs to improve his decision making but **** me, talk about scapegoating and overreaction. Mahrez also had moments of greediness today but the reality is only creativity we have come from Mahrez and Gray - and amazingly enough, these 2 are the most slated players on here.
Legend_in_blue Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 I'd start him at home instead of Albrighton based on individual performances today.
Claridge Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Gray is so greedy and has no football brain.schlupp 2. The effort to mahrez was schoolboy shocking
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 There's definitely a player in there and a massive talent, hes only young so certain things will come on with time (decision making included). He's not the finished article but not many are at 20. Needs to get his head down and keep working.
Marshall Cockney Fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 He's infuriating with his dodge decision making. But there's a proper player beneath the frustrating veneer. Do we preserve or cut our losses and let another work on him?
TheSomersetFox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Player can't have one bad game without getting slagged off. Do one
inckley fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 The problem with the subs, I felt, was that we took three players off who put pressure on the ball - in Vardy, Okazaki, Albrighton - and, as ineffective as the aforementioned may have been, replaced them with three who, today at least, didn't put pressure on the ball. Then again, I don't think we lost the game because of any of them. I'd be having words with the likes of Ndidi before berating Slimani, King or even Gray, who was - as someone else said - a little over-eager to impress. It's totally reasonable, I think, for people to look at his social media messages, body language and on-field decision-making when they assess he has a positive attitude or not, and I understand why people question that aspect of him, but I wouldn't slate him for today. The gulf in class was most apparent in the centre of the park. Shinji battled well but was pretty ineffective, didn't manage to link midfield with attack. It felt like we needed another midfielder, and one who wasn't Andy King. James was decent for 60 minutes but did little creatively (one great ball over the top springs to mind, but other than that-). He never managed the ball well and was badly off the pace by the end. Ndidi was disappointing, though I see his tackles / interceptions stats are deceptively good. If Drinky is leaving, I hope we're looking to add in the CM position. If James gets injured and Ndidi / Iborra struggle, we could have King-Amartey on the horizon. In honestly, we were comfortably brushed aside and should have lost by more. There are places where we need to improve and it's wrong to say 'come on, it's Man U, what do you expect?' There's work to do on the training ground (set pieces, for instance), in individual performances and in changing personnel. But there were positives too. Mahrez put in a shift and Morgan / Maguire looked excellent, as did Schmeichel. Perspective is needed, although not too much - because we'll be in the bottom bracket of the table if we don't improve quickly against the better teams.
inckley fox Posted 26 August 2017 Posted 26 August 2017 Sorry, those last three paragraphs were meant to be posted on a different thread. Didn't mean to go off topic.

Have to agree with you. Grey might have a face like a slapped arse but he was our most positive player, constantly driving forward. We looked far more threatening with him on the pitch. He made some mistakes but which player didnt.
