I think we are seeing the new crop with Chessum, Steward, Martin, Kelly, Heyes, JvP etc. They'll be here for years to come.

My thoughts as well. Steward is just going to be huge for us and England - I can't believe how good he is already.

Just seen Moroni is off Newcastle - bad that

Really gutted about this. I guess it was inevitable there will be casualties with the salary cap, but seeing we already have a number of core players moving on I would have sooner kept as many of our winning side as possible.

There’s a chap making his debut for the all blacks at the weekend who was named after the city of Leicester. His dad dropped the winning goal at the 1999 World Cup for Tonga v Italy. Two days later mini Leicester popped out in the LRI and was subsequently called Leicester Fainga’anuku.

I didn’t realise that was the reasoning. I went that game.

Well deserved and long overdue. Let’s hope he has a stormer.

Will blame Eddie for the 5hit show yesterday, why put subs or as he calls them finishers on the bench if your not going to allow them to come on and finish.

45mins playing against 14 and 2 teams just cancelling each other out, they knew what Care and Farrell were doing & ditto from their side but Eddie was to scared to make the calls, we should have pulled them around and then emptied the bench with 20-25 to go and continued with the pressure especially as they had 3 injuries in the 1st half plus the red.

Bias will come into it but JVP would have sped/mixed up the game, he deserved more than a action packed 5 minute, same with Arundel.

Will Stuart not a regular starter then plays the entire 80 and you could see he was flagging why wasn’t Heyes on?

Then the fixation with Farrell and Smith, Farrell is the new Tuilagi Eddie will play despite not fitting or others being in better form. Why have Smith on if your #12 is going to do all your work?

Felt Porter would have added both with defence and attack and whilst Merchant wasn’t stand out I would have taken Farrell off and let Smith run it with JVP and Porter at 12.

It’s all 2 safe, static and predictable, he needs to allow them the freedom or get on his bike.

The use of Arundel late in the day was stupid. the Aussies knew nothing about him. What does the muppet do.  Bring him on when the game is over and show them him for free basically.  In that brief five mins he scared the death out of Australia and they’ll be well prepared for him now.  Ridiculous management.  He’d have won the game for us yesterday had we brought him on early in the second half when they were a man down.

Jones is done. His arrogance has justification with results but he’s now repeatedly been made to look foolish and the players don’t have the same fear factor with him.

There's a guy coaching some team in the Midlands who has recent history of completely turning a team's fortunate on its head for the better One for England to consider?

I don't think it's unreasonable to draw parallels between Borthwick leaving the England coaching setup and England turning to shit.

Any coach who uses archaic ‘fear factor’ tactics with his own players which Jones does is doomed in modern sport. It’s why Mourinho got found out by the modern game and he’s finally had to adapt. The best coaches in modern sport (Pep, Klopp, O’Gara, Borthwick, even Southgate to an extent etc) are at one with their players psychologically.

What an absolute revelation ROG has been as a coach so far. Fair play to him.

Tommy Reffell chosen in the 'Team of the weekend' ...  pleasing for Tigers fans and our Welsh boys alike ...  especially as not one England player is in it !! ( @Finnegan ) ..

I’d imagine Jasper would’ve been in there too if Savea wasn’t an absolute freak of a player 🤣

Absolutely. I personally think that he is someone who could get England firing (I know you wouldn't particularly want to see that). It shouldn't really come as a surprise that is a good coach though should it? His game management as a player was second to none.

Fair point, I was just using him as an example of someone who has more in his locker than 'being a **** to his players and the media' vibes, unlike Eddie Jones.

To be honest, in all seriousness, he has been linked with the job previously and has actually quite openly said he'd do it.

I imagine if Ireland and England came offering him a job on the same day he'd take Ireland. But otherwise I'm sure he'd want to try it out from a professional point of view. He's quite explicitly stated that people expecting him to want to refuse to do it for sentimental or emotional reasons because England are the "enemy" or whatever don't "understand" how he works as a sportsman.

I can't imagine the RFU opting for ROG over Borthwick at the moment, though. Surely if you have two coaches with a similar profile you go for the one that's actually English in their situation.

I don't want them to go for Borthwick for obvious reasons, but I actually don't know if he would be the right option. Personally I think England need a more attack minded coach to unlock that potentially very talented backline. I might be very far off the mark though.

Regan Grace is coming back to Union.

Excited faces on. Bit weird he's off to France but, to be honest, probably the best move for his development and it won't stop him playing for us for the first few years. Oh man, Grace on one wing and LRZ on the other? Fap fap fap fap.

As a League fan, pretty pissed off about it to be honest. I think he'd have been at another club other than St Helens, he'd be a marquee player and get more dollar. It probably kills Wales last hope at being competitive internationally at League.
