OzLeicester about to get foxestalk put on a UK government watch list

Tbf on another thread unindicted US government officials are being labelled as nonces without any qualifier so I reckon it's already there.

Why can't authorities in the countries affected by the crisis put surveillance on companies that sell the rubber boats to the criminals involved?

Cut the supply chain etc.

Would they be bothered? For example are France bothered if migrants get on a boat to England.

I don't think racism should be a criminal offence. And I'm saying this as a non-white person. Discrimination in employment, education etc, yes that should be against the law, but racist abuse in public or social media should not be a crime. People will say its because we've had a bad recent history of horrific racism and antisemitism but so has the USA. The Americans have gotten this absolutely right. Let people say what they want, however bad it is, as long as it isn't inciting violence. I don't believe morons being racist towards Ivan Toney and Bukayo Saka on social media should end up with a criminal conviction.

I'm curious to know how this would foster better race relations. Or relations between any different demographics, come to that.

Have the Americans really 'got racism right'?

I do understand what you're saying as regards freedom of speech, and would agree that we've gone too far in some respects. I'm just not sure that, at the extremes, abuse doesn't equate to assault. Nor that the Americans are the ones who have got this right.

Exteme racism is allowed in USA but that hasn't resulted in regular daily assaults on minorities. Not since the 70s/80s anyway. They regulate themselves a lot better now.  The Americans have a lot of things wrong but having the first ammendment is one thing they got absolutely right imo.

It may not be better but I don't believe it'll be worse. Britain is already a pretty progressive society so I doubt we'll see an increase in outward racism publicly.

If that's true (and it's possible), then imo there's no point in taking the chance beyond some form of idealism.

Spain is an interesting example because like all EU countries they discriminate between EU citizens and non EU citizens, and unfortunately we are now in the latter group.

I still can't think of a way I am not treated equally to the Spanish citizens, what are you thinking of?

Speak to an actual American living in a mainly white area and they'll tell you that racism, coupled with religion, make those areas a scary place to live if you're a non white person.

Quite how anyone can argue that America’s abdication of doing anything to make its population feel safer eludes me. The first amendment is a vile piece of legislation that validates hatred and victimisation. It causes pain, misery and suffering to everyone be it their skin colour, choice of magic sky pixie, or even going to have an abortion.

There is no freedom of speech because there is no acceptance of the responsibilities associated with that, it’s freedom to be a cvnt - and I for one am delighted that we keep our cvnts in a level of check.

Saying in effect, “Well there used to be more lynchings” doesn’t cut it, and doesn’t prove the 1st is working. It’s a toxic, putrid country strewn with hate and over 600 white supremacist organisations - the kind that would be proscribed here.

I find your comments staggering.

In the words of the classic theme tune to Dukes of Hazzard...

"Jus' som' good ole boys...

Never meanin' no harm..."

One thing they do get right in them brown coat states though, and that's the positioning of dirt ramps next to highways.

Edit: just checked this - not a single black actor in any episode of DoH lol.

That's interesting, I don't feel remotely discriminated against as a migrant where I live. I receive state health care and I'll receive a state pension when I retire, I can't think off the top of my head how the Spanish favour their own citizens over me as a migrant

You happen to be treated as an equal because you moved from another EU country with all the appropriate paperwork and bought a home, pay taxe etc, all of which ticks a box.

I'm guessing you can't vote in general elections.

Absolutely. Their record on race and gender relations driven by that First Amendment is clearly an example to follow.

Once again worth remembering there are more than just two countries in the world.
