And extend their business links as well into main land Europe, until they bought Leicester, outside of Thailand no one knew who King Power were. But I think the champions league money they could get from Leuven as it would be easier for them to work there way into Europe compared to Leicester again would produce a high percentage profit which the owners would be looking at after last season, especially as they aren't really that keen on spending it anyways so it lines their bank account....

Champions league money at a Belgian club is smallfry. I wonder if the leuven purchase it to enable our young players to get competitive experience within the king power set up. I believe that Man City have purchased a big chunk of girona in spain with a view to loaning their youngsters there. it's hard for 'kids' to get competitive experience with crowds and pressure nowadays without loaning them to clubs who don't have lcfc's best interests at heart. Elliott Moore is having a very valuable experience at the moment and I suspect we could cancel his loan in January if we wanted to. That wouldn't be possible if we loaned him out to a league one club here - they probably wouldn't have taken him in the first place.

your not an accountant are you

You're not an English teacher are you? ;)

I thought it was structured so they could never claim it back whether they sold or not.

What am I missing, how does them writing off the debt make them money?  At best they break even but as a club we're free of 100m of debt.

It lessens the chance of a fine for failing ffp

by removing the interest payable on the debt to the owners our losses in the final season in the championship are reduced. Whilst that in itself isn't a saving as they should be earning interest on the 100 million, if they have saved themselves a fine of ten million by not failing ffp then I suppose it makes sense . As it happens, we were promoted so as long as we don't get relegated we stay out of the grasp of the football league anyway (I think ?  )

I see that but my point was that they are £100m out of pocket by paying off the debt.

The fine would have been on the club not the owners.

My initial comment was in answer to Redouane (?) claiming the owners were i it for the money.

Could have been a transfer ban which would have made promotion a lot harder and reduced the value of their asset if they wanted to sell. Clearly at that time they weren't in it for the money short term but could see the riches ahead in the prem -

now? No idea

Were they at the game yesterday? Not seen so much of them recently. Keeping their heads down?

They sometimes use one of the boxes they occasionally go in (the one with protective glass either side).

Have heard that some nearby fans had annoyed them a bit in regularly trying to talk to them recently.

How much are the boxes now (out of question)?

I know my family business paid nearly £30,000+ during their last season (the season we got promoted) after 35+ years of having one, and some other used-to-be regular box-holders/local businesses had quit having one since then as well due to the additional costs season-after-season being put in place.

Can imagine it, in general, hitting £50,000+ now..

For the Thai's it's all about making money and when that dries up, and it will, with our poor record since the PL title, they'll move on and LCFC will be cut adrift.

If it was all about making money a championship football club would be the last thing you'd buy because hardly any of them make money. If they sold up now they'd probably make some money courtesy of our extraordinary success but we are the exception, for most owners a football club is a money pit not a money maker. There are millions of better ways to make money.

Editing to say I didn't realise this was months old, whoops

My biggest criticism from a football point of view is that when they've sacked a manager it appears like they've never had anyone lined up to replace them so it looks like they don't really know what direction they want to take the club. However, Pearson and Ranieri obviously worked out and the signs are encouraging with Puel (though time will tell). So perhaps they do know the traits they want in a manager and I was being a bit harsh.

But.. apart from getting us promoted, wiping out our huge debts, buying back our stadium, winning the premiership, capping ticket prices, giving us free beer and doughnuts, what else have they done for us?

I remember their swift counter attack away at West Brom. It was glorious. In seriousness, I will them credit where it's due with regards to clearing out debts and purchasing the stadium, but suggesting that they won the league is silly.

Vichai hasn't sat on the front row since the charges were brought against king power. He now sits in his box above the half way line. Top sat front row against palace so it's not about avoiding any fans. Neither were there last night,  no idea if there is anything in it but they didn't attend the home game against United last Feb either.

Personally I love our owners and feel extremely lucky to have them at our club. They do alot for the fans and great promotions throughout the year. I don't know of any other club that buys the supporters a drink regularly either. They have done ever so much good for our club since being here and I don't understand why some people slate them to be honest.

Good , for both sides (the club and the owners)

impossible to say what’s true or not true in football but 100% I believe the source that had told me they are looking for a partner.

this issue in Thailand is bigger than reported here , much bigger

Don't the rumours persist that we already effectively have a sleeping partner.(shareholder)

What will be interesting to read in the new year will be the latest accounts.

The 2016 accounts show we had 31 million cash in hand at the bank but have bank loans totalling 214 million over the next 7 years essentially we have borrowed 32 million a year for the foreseeable future. Would like to see if they are content just to sit on that. I assume it makes no sense for them to pay it off quicker if it is easily serviceable.

But if they wanted to sell at any point I guess it may need sorting as it's secured against the ground and training ground. A partner or new owner may not be happy with that.
