Slimani said he was approached by Silva at Watford about a summer move and it was unfortunate it didn't materialise as we wouldn't let him go. But apparently he is now focussed on Leicester

Then why the **** did we give Leo a new contract if we wanted to keep Slim. He would have been a good signing for Watford.

Tapping up? I doubt this sort of thing would happen in England lol

How about you give them game time by picking and playing them in a team that passes the ball, CS, you numpty.  We've seen if Slim gets service he can bang 'em in.  Riyad on Saturday offered more threat in his cameo than the rest of the team had shown.  Two players that fit into a team that plays football.  Where passing is involved.  Vardy can also pass and link up. I really feel (don't want to make this a CS bashing session) that we are playing square pegs in round holes though.

I couldn’t disagree more.

We are clearly playing triangular pegs in oblong holes.

As I recall, Watford wouldn't pay the money we wanted. Leo is an odd one but if he is happy playing second choice plan B then a new contract works for us if we do sell him and we are clearly happy paying him to be there 'just in case'.

Pity we didn't do that with Mendy and DD.....

Leicester were asking for 25M€ I think. That is crazy high, considering he hardly played last season.

Nah - low mileage season. Plenty left on his clock!

For sure, but still a high price to ask, if he isn't goign to be used here. Watford would be good for him and Leicester, since they would receive some money back.

Thought this was going to be about them not pulling their weight for their club, and not in Shakespeare's current plans.

Still, Mahrez, in particular, needs to be talked to in private and tell him to wear his heart on the club's sleeve more often imo.

I like slimani .i think hes a player who neads full gametime to florish .he is a tryer like vardi

Play him in central midfield hes a gifted player but to slow for upfront .much more tecnical than king

On a slightly different note, if anyone is interested there's a crucial WC qualifier to watch next round. Ivory Coast host Morocco. Ivory Coast need to win to qualify and Morocco just need a draw.

We won't sell him, he'd never get the same wages he's on here anywhere else so at best we'd have to cancel his contract or pay him off. We should have taken a nominal fee this summer from a Championship team.

Algeria Fans Praise Mikel, Victor Moses & Iwobi, Blast Slimani, Mahrez & Brahaimi

Fans of the Algerian national team gave the Super Eagles of Nigeria a warm reception upon their arrival in Constantine ahead of tomorrow’s game against Algeria.

The game is of no significant as Nigeria have already qualified for the World Cup from the group that has Algeria, Cameroon and Zambia, thanks to their unbeaten run with only the draw against Cameroon denting their perfect start.

Algeria are bottom of the group after a terrible run that saw them use three coaches despite the avalanche of star players available to the country.

Upon the arrival of the Super Eagles for tomorrow’s dead rubber tie some of the fans spoke with Owngoalnigeria.com, and they were full of praise for the star players in the Nigerian team.

” Mikel, Victor Moses and Alex Iwobi, your big players played every game with their heart in it, but our star players Islam Slimani, Riyad Mahrez and Yacine Brahaimi ‎are not committed “, a fan who identifies himself as Masoud told Owngoalnigeria.com.

Another who was listening to the conversation, also joined in the interview and his opinion was same as his friend Masoud regarding the star players of Algeria.

” Nigeria are going to the World Cup because Mikel, Moses, Iwobi and Kelechi Iheanacho sacrificed to help their country progress, we can’t say same here on Algeria, Mahrez, Slimani and the other big players prefer their clubs to the national team”, he said.

Another close follower of Algerian football Majid also echoed the praise of his fellow country men for the Nigerian stars and just like them, he also criticised players of his country for their poor showing.

” Our players are bigger than our coach, they play for themselves and not for the team unlike Nigeria. You see Moses tracking back to win balls, Mikel is here for a game that has no meaning, I’m not sure any Algerian player can do so. It’s a pity”.

Gotta say a few of those quotes and claims such as 'not committed', 'players bigger than our coach' or 'play for themselves and not for the team' (Not just Slimani and Mahrez may I add) sound familiar certainly in the past year.

May I know who you feel is not "committed" to the club then? Since you said it wasn't just Slimani and Mahrez

Slim was committed enough to Algeria to go and play for them last season despite having a groin niggle, doing that for his country worsened his groin injury and arguably significantly damaged his club career. Seems like the fans are just looking for someone to blame.

Drinkwater obviously wasn't, whilst I like Ulloa - Ulloa obviously wasn't under Ranieri, Vardy has been seen to engineer a potential move in the past, possibly still is (Workrate very rarely in question though), evidence supports Mahrez isn't (Albeit performances are taking an upturn in the last 4 games), likewise Slimani.

So I guess we should ignore the fact that Vardy had 13 goals in 36 appearances last season, or the fact that he only has 1 goal each 161 minutes in all competitions this season or the fact that he was allegedly one of the key factors in Ranieri's departure?

And please don't tell me "but he puts in 100% each game".. that's subjective. If we look at the stats in a neutral point of view, we can see that he isn't any more committed than Mahrez or Slimani (for example).

Also you give Ulloa the benefit of the doubt because he wasn't played often, but you don't seem to give Slim that benefit of the doubt. Slimani hasn't ever started a premier league game under Shakespeare (other than vs Everton the game before the UCL) and has yet to play a second under Puel.

And what is this "evidence" you speak of? What scientific evidence proves that a player isn't committed?

Ps: I like Vardy. I'm just disproving your argument

I would do but I'm busy.  That paint isn't going to watch itself dry.

We trolled them hard after we qualified for the 2010 and 2014 world cups and they didn't.. hope they don't qualify so they don't get their revenge ?
