I actually completely see his point with regards to having less time than most to turn a sticky situation around.

Me too. It was the totally unnecessary stuff about how he'd not wish to go for a drink with him etc - like it's relevant.

Exactly - I don't like superficial judgement of me, so I'm not going to do it to someone else.

Puel has been fantastic so far. He has taken what he was given and has transformed the team. I like the way he has brought in younger players who were just marking time on the bench. Gray is improving all the time, Wes looks more assured with Harry beside him, Mahrez looks keen again, Chilwell is gaining experience and Iborra is just pure class. Add to that the quality of actual football he has introduced and it has been a neat bit of astute business on behalf of our owners.

Can't say I was overjoyed when he was appointed as I didn't really know him but his influence has been noticeable. Much as I liked Shakespeare he just wasn't good enough as a manager, relied too much on the old guard which was stale and needed revitalising. Looking forward to the rest of the season under Puel's leadership especially with Silva due to join the fold.

I kinda get the original post. I don't agree with it but I understand this is how managers are perceived by fans and media. Puel isn't that good at engaging. Lose 0-3 to Palace or beat Spurs 2-1 you will hear the same monotone post match interview. Nobody cares now cos we are doing relatively decent but if it goes pear shaped his sour demeanour will have a little patience wirh some fans. Remember how Rob Kelly became a comedic meme on here with his "smashing bunch of lads" and "redoubling the efforts on the training ground" post match quotes. If things go wrong in the future Puel will be the subject of the same ridicule.

For the record, I am 100% behind Puel and I don't give any credence to post match interviews from managers or players. It's full of cliches and little substance.

The only manager we have had that I don’t want to hear the post match comments of.

When it starts going ropey, his time will come quicker than any other, as he is an easier target that most.

I started listening to him last night on the way home, and was unsure I was listening to Puel after a last minute draw v Man U, or I had been reading the depression thread on here.

I don’t care who we have as long as we win matches, but it’s going to be interesting when it starts to go pear shaped he will be history quicker than most.

Chairman listens to fans, and Puels stock with the fans will be right down the toilet once the fans start going against him.

Doing a great job on the pitch currently, but I would turn down the chance to have a drink with him. And like I said, I think he will be gone quicker than most when it all turns.

stop taking you for what you are not, it will be good for the planet

Any problems with not being able to handle pre and post match chat and interviews from Puel,

surely lies in any  listeners aptitude, to be willing to percieve and have patience to other peoples presentation of expression.

listeners, always tend to be lazy and not willing to comprise on differences or  nuances, of the varing tongue. They want presentation delivered on a plate, so willingly turn a deaf ear...

Gets to the point, where even my road-rage , utterings and gesticulations, are just simply not understood, and get totally ignored , by the unlearn..ed.....

I think Rob's making the point (perhaps a touch clumsily) that, particularly when results go titttts up, it helps for a manager to be able to engage in a certain way with the media. You don't want a clown like Holloway talking shiiite but there is a middle ground.

Of course English isn't Puel's first language and he has an interpreter with him at media engagements so slack must be cut. However, he could do with some media guidance to help get his points across. He's deathly quiet - he probably can't change that - but some of his answers are so long and full of waffle and pretty confusing at times. It's a nightmare for us radio bods but, you know, first world problems and all that...

Results matter first and foremost, yes, but a few tweaks could help him for sure. PS I don't think Rob's being negative, I think he's trying to make a constructive point.

Like me I think a lot of peoples point is he's a football manager not a radio presenter. I personally  judge managers by the teams performance not an interview. We've had enough talk a good game type shite managers over the years. It don't matter how well they talk to the press that don't win games or points.

If the teams not performing/winning it matters not how well spoken the manager is they'll suffer one way or the other because there's nothing much they can say that will satisfy disgruntled fans or the media out for a story.

Puel is a different kettle of fish to Ranieri who was very comfortable in dealing with the Press. Puel does not have that same personality but to be honest I would much rather he was getting his point across on the pitch than giving entertaining or meaningful press interviews. For my part I don't take much notice of any of them.

Whilst on the matter I wonder how much Appleton has influenced the way we play and perform. It looks like he is settling in well as a part of the LCFC team and deserves credit for that.

Are you sure? Before you take the moral high ground, check what you have written elsewhere about others.

I respect Puel. He is still learning English and he may not be the best in interviews but he is obviously able to communicate with the players and that is the most important thing for me.

Ranieri struggled with interviews at Chelsea but once he gained confidence with the language, I'm sure many of you would agree that he became legendary in pressers and interviews.

Sometimes Puel does ask a translator to clarify a question but then answers in English.

Puel is a good

manager.  He may not always get it right, but I’ve seen a real difference in the playing style and tactics of the team since Shakey’s departure, disregarding the initial bump.  He’s a solid tactician, and that’s all I could care about right now.

It's not his lack of English or monotone that bothers me. It's that weird padded waistcoat thing that bothers me.

Makes me wonder if he really is French.

Being a gilet, it makes him even more French.
