Good to see the FA finally giving the national team a run out in the provinces. Hopefully more to come, and, just maybe, a return of Cup semi-finals being held away from Wembley too in the future?

Elland Road is set to be used to host an England fixture for the first time in over 15 years this summer, with Gareth Southgate’s side set to host Costa Rica in a friendly prior to the World Cup in Russia

Semi-finals are committed to Wembley until at least 2037 to help pay for the new stadium. Well, that's what they decreed back in 2003 anyway, I don't know if it's enshrined in a contract anywhere.

With England moving out for a game or two certainly signals a softening and potential for this to change.

No more semi finals there. No more Friendlies there. Spread others to Newcastle, Manchester, Liverpool and Villa Park. Outside of London there really isn't anywhere else that's 40K plus unless teams start expanding HINT HINT. Elland Road is a dog hole. Brighton is too small, Bristol doesn't have a stadium fit for its city (neither does Sheffield).

On the 'Rooney' report they said they were planning to pay off the rest of the stadium money next year, I seem to remember a sum of £124mill. was still owing.

Eh? Sheffield and Leeds have 3 of the best stadiums in the country. Hillsborough is absolutely spectacular.

What's the criteria for a decent stadium to you? Fancy toilets?

It might have been 30 years ago but even the most ardent Leeds fan will tell you its becoming outdated and in need of a face lift.

You are speaking about two very different things. You are thinking 'proper football stadium' and he is actually using the term nice stadium the way it should actually be meant.

Depends what you mean? In terms the overall structure it's still up there with the best. Facilities etc might need improving but it's 100 times better than any of the generic new stadiums we're seeing built nowadays.

It's really neither here nor there what Leeds fans think, I detest our stadium.

Leeds' ground needs improvements. Just looks tired.

I dispute that they are different things. I've been to the new Wembley for example and there's nothing that really impressed me about it.

Specifically, what is it that is desirable in a 'nice stadium'? Genuinely; is it that the toilets are of a good standard?

Again, not necessarily disagreeing with you. But I don't think that makes it a 'dog hole'.

Fundamentally, it's still a great stadium, whereas it doesn't matter how much work you do on the Emirates or London Stadium, they will always be shite.

Modern day facilities.

Highfield Road was wonderful and one of the best characteristic grounds in the country but Coventry had to move because it lacked modern day facilities compared to rival grounds.

I love proper football grounds, they are my favourite, but the likes of Hillsborough - as beautiful as it is - ain't fit enough to host England games nowadays.

Didn't call the stadium a dog hole tbf.

Also the Emirates is one of the nicest grounds in the country, just filled with brain dead library enthusiasts.

The London Stadium can't be a football stadium because of the distance but as an athletics arena only the birds nest tops it for me.

Wembley is an incredible stadium, it really is. Nothing I can say will probably change your mind though. Anti modern football and all that.

Ps, the toilets aren't just a high standard, they are interchangeable depending on the event, that's some next level shit right there

Lmao, behave. If we were to host a world cup a heck of a lot would need doing to Hillsborough.

Elland road, apart from the big stand, needs serious work too.

Great to see England are playing in Leeds, it’ll be a great laugh. Personally think the best way would be to either:

1) Alternate England matches (qualifiers and friendlies) between Wembley and other grounds around the country

2) Play Qualifying matches at Wembley and play friendlies at other grounds around the country
