Had a lovely afternoon at Kings Head this Saturday - but I really don't get what's happening to the place with all the ex BS heads in there. Landlord appears a decent bloke as well.

Was in there Friday night for the game as went for most euro games last year. He’s a great laugh as well to be fair to him, not a bad boozer at all.

Had my Camra card turn up (thought I cancelled the DD years ago), does anywhere in town actually offer the discount besides spoons?

Blue boar and Ale Wagon don’t, bizarrely.

Globe does.

It’s lovely, thankfully they don’t go much in the week. Surprised they’ve not been banned, if it’s the same chaps who were involved in the Villa trouble last season.

Going to a gig at the Ally Pally in the big smoke on Friday, looking for decent places to drink (and maybe eat) in and around that area if anyone can give me any recommendations?

The clissold arms in muswell hill is where the kinks started. The mossy well spoons is decent

County rather than city but I drove past a sign for 'The Thirsty Villager' hanging off the wall of Theddingworth Village Hall on Saturday. Turns out it's a pop-up pub that runs occasionally.

Be great if something more permanent were to appear there. It's been the only village between Harborough and Lutterworth without a boozer for a while now.

Anyone been Railway Inn in Glenfield at all? Going there with the missus tonight for a pre-Xmas drink/food. Looks good from the outset but wondered if anyone had nice words to say

Yep, what i'd class as a 'drinkers pub' - not terrible but not first choice IMO. Forge round the corner is good!

Agree with this. Railway is great for Xmas beers.

Yes. It's a working class Leicester pub...and there's something to be said for that. Slightly scruffy and hotch potch. Not unfriendly though, basic pub food is good value. I kinda like it. But it's not what you'd call a date venue

How good is the Black Horse now for not having that grumpy sod on the bar stinking the place out.

Might have to give it a whirl now that Web is gone

The staff are certainly better than they are/were in the WEB.

I've always been welcomed warmly and treated well in there tbh.

Found this in the end. Food was almost strangely cheap but tasty. Good vibe, nice and loud and a nice atmosphere.

Would definitely go again

Any recommendations for Nottingham pubs? Not for Saturday but tomorrow. Done the Jerusalem place, before heading into Beeston. But staying central this time.

The Angel I enjoyed, Kean's Head looks a belter too.
