Very sad for him, just too big a risk to continue playing, I wish him well for the future and hope he can eek a living out of football somehow.

Good luck, invest in property Ryan, Spain if possible. No doubt you’ll have enough capital not to worry about the 5-10 year wait for your 40% equity return!

Actually solid advice for a man with capital to invest but no reliable income.

Imagine how much that insurance pay out will be.......

Hull will be covered for the remainder of his contract. I doubt he was a big earner. Probably a few million quid. Would hope the player will have his own policy but given that he is probably able to work, i’m not sure what other payout he would be able to claim. Sad for any professional athlete to have to retire years to early.

Like @Corky said I doubt he will be that bothered about the money in all honesty. He’s having to stop playing the game he’s always played & loved at an early age.

Not just that when you hear ex players talk they always say how much they miss the daily routine of going to training, seeing friends and the atmosphere in dressing rooms.

Cahill has tweeted about it and struck exactly the right chord. Fair play to Cahill who must also be cut up about this.

However, the replies to Cahill's tweet just remind us all that the internet can occasionally be a bit off a cess hole.  What are those people thinking?

Obviously sad, and worrying (with this type of injury, the effects could get unfortunately worse in the long-term?), and hope he has something fixed up to do such as occasionally being part of some commentary team at Sky for example.
