Yeah a good 5 or 6 pubs to be done. The Moorcroft near Deepdale is supposedly great as well. Just like Halifax, one of these gems up North.

Really, I had no idea. I have in-law relatives in Halifax, been a few times and it is nice. Didn't know there were good pubs there. Do you recall names of any?

Big 6, 3 Pigeons, Victoria Cafe, Vocation Brewery, Dukes, Grayston Unity, Kobenhavn

Absolutely gutted I was unaware of them when I had to work in Halifax once and went the Shay in the evening.

I was in Halifax a few weeks ago and did the Three Pigeons. Sowerby Bridge is also good - Shepherds Rest (another Osset pub), Hogs Head Brew House, and Turks Head. You could do an amazing crawl incorporating all the good pubs in Halifax with Sowerby Bridge (Big Six is in the middle of the two). Sowerby Bridge also has a station taking you back to Leeds or you can even carry onto Hebden Bridge.

Yeah, ticked The Moorcroft off while I was having tyres changed down the road earlier this year!

I'm going to throw Piccadilly Tap, Manchester into the mix.

Great selection of beers on tap, right next to the station, and staff that knew their beers.

Had 3 pints of Buxton noughts and crosses. Peanut butter stout. 👍

Couple of superb pubs done yesterday in amongst

Rose & Crown, London Bridge. Very good beer selection

Dog & Bell, Deptford. Murphys Stout. Off the beaten track in the interest Deptford. Up there as a London top contender.

Old Nuns Head, Peckham/Nuns Head. Went here for Dough Hands Pizza (incredibly good) but a lovely Laine Zesty Lager.

Stormbird, Camberwell. The old classic but very quiet and sadly lost points for the atmosphere. Every other time I've been there, it's been packed.

Used to drink at the rose and crown, trinity and Dover castle a lot when I lived on Southwark bridge road. There was (may still be) a picture up at D Cas of when a bunch of us bought 50 jäger bombs and lined them up in a perfect train.

Surprised storm bird is still open, seems a prime contender to be another closed pub

Next time you are down that way, try Big Js Biltong Bar on Deptford High Street. Best night I've had in years in that place when I was working down that way last year.

Nipped in Hansom Cab for one to tick off a Leicester CAMRA list I'd started years ago.

Safe to say I won't be rushing back in lol

I like character, but that's a strange gaff.

Old blokes at my cricket club used to talk about the place like it was Mecca in the 70s if they drove up to Leicester for a night out after a win.

Couldn't believe they were talking about the same gaff after the first time I experienced it.

Walked past. Like micro pub vibes about eight or nine in there

From Hamburg:

Blockbrau - enjoyed a couple of these on the rooftop of the brewery

Ratsherrn - Hotel option as local beer. Wasn't a fan tbh but may have just got a bad one, didn't give it another chance

Radelberger - again, hotel option and was OK.

Hofbrau - couple in the biergarten, enjoyed it.

Astra - had this in can, bottle and pint form. Wasn't keen with the can but enjoyed the bottles. Pints were decent in the sun too.

The Red Admiral in Broughton Astley is a lesser spotted light touch Everards. All the better for it, textured wallpaper, dingy opaline light fittings and Theakston on cask.

Invariably one day they’ll decide it needs loads of clashing tartan upholstery and LEDs

In the Roebuck, Elephant & Castle / Borough, what a bloody lovely building

Good gaff this, worth a look imo!

Now shamefully in my first ever Royal Oak visit on the Harvey's Best and what a gaff what a drink

Superb pub. The old ale and the mild are to die for.

Ratsherrn is my favourite of the big Hamburger brands (Astra and Holsten being the other two), shame it didn't hit for you.

I was in Cologne for work last week and was taken to a bar which only had Schreckenskammer on draft and it was delightful.

Drinking in Cologne is great too as these old school places will keep the beers coming until you signal otherwise by putting a coaster over your glass.
