Enjoying an unbelievable DIPA from monkish tonight at our summerhouse in Denmark. 25 degrees, kids asleep, got BSLB going, dog next to me. Can’t beat summer.

Tried a few new pubs in Nottingham yesterday towards Canning Circus.

The Sir John Borlase Warren is owned by Everards but operated by Lincoln Green Brewery, really steady option. Everards should supply their Project William pubs’ beers as guests in their own stock.

The Falcon next door is a cracker, red wallpaper, potraits, proper upholstery and cheap for the hand-pulled beers.

Then Hand & Heart,  went because it sounded 🇬🇧 but felt like a similar set up to Cock & Hoop less it being cut into a cave. I wasn’t aware there were more cave pubs beyond YOTTJ.

The area is bizarre, grandiose Georgian buildings mixed in with dilapidated buildings and obvious deprivation in loads of homelessness.

Is the organ grinder still around there? Alfreton Road is unfortunately very deprived. If you go down the hill to the student area there’s the truly awful three wheatsheaves where you can get sub £2 pints

Yeah didn’t head there as I’d read before it’s essentially the same as the Loughborough one.

Sir John was a go to after work when I lived in The Park, great gaff. Weird pub up that way I never got in called The Running Horse, beautiful tiled building but never ****ing open!

Think there's a few 'cave pubs', not quite built into like the H&H but they're definitely under and visitable — Malt Cross and Old Salutation do iirc

Did you go through The Park Tunnel mate? One of the weirdest things I've ever seen. Really do get massive disparity with the Park and Radford / Arboretum rubbing shoulders

Never rated canning circus, I used to go there 6 or 7 years ago.  It got too popular, so stopped going.  Good to see its doing well.

I used to hang around the park aswell, my old boss owned a house there and used to invited us around.  Interesting but full of foookwits

Just been on a stag do in Bratislava, Bernard is a lovely pint there. Had it in Prague previously too, and preferred it to the more popular Pilsner Urquell both times.

No, walked a really direct route there and back - the park is a nice area iirc? Had no idea about the MC cave.

They’re not normally retiring when it comes self-aggrandisement so I’m surprised it’s not more a thing.

Strange area, it was busy-ish but hard pressed to say it was doing well. A few tents under doorways etc

When I lived in Bulgaria we found a place that sold draught Bernard which was great as the local stuff was crap. Great beer.

Pulled in a lovely pilsner from Pure Bar in Birmingham on Saturday

Off Melton Mowbray Saturday for some non-league. Obviously Round Corner, Anne of Cleves on the list - any others?

Lived in about 4 different flats on that road between 2010 and 2018, you're right, its a bizarre area, some cracking pubs though.

Hand & Heart is great, to be honest it's a Sunday Roast pub for me though rather than pop in for a pint type of place. It was easily the best place in Notts centre for a sunday roast back then, imagine that might have changed now.

Is that the one where they sell light and dark? And then a "medium" where they just do half of each lol

Had a shedload in the Bankers Cat Leeds at the weekend and then got out to the Three Pigeons in Halifax, a few in Sowerby Bridge, and the Vocation Taproom in Hebden Bridge. I think Yorkshire is my favourite place for pubs and beer in the UK (I haven't even done Sheffield properly yet). Sparklers till I die!

Another oddity is that the Raglan Road pub has been raided many times, which is odd as it seems like an unremarkable Irish bar both inside and out but there must be something sketchy about it

Pre-Oasis pints in Bury on Sunday. Stuck to lager as sessioning.

Thornbridge Bayern lager at The Trackside, Bury - Trainspotter pub at Bury steam train station with a good selection.

Riegeler Bier at The Marketside Tavern, Bury - Sucker for a German beer I've never heard of. Busy micropub with a chatty barman who chucked Oasis tunes on as soon as he saw my mate's t-shirt.

Diamond lager at The Friendship Inn, Prestwich - Placcy glass and too rammed to fully appreciate, but I do enjoy a Joseph Holt pub when up that way.

Used to be my go to sports bar if I just wanted to pop out downstairs midweek.

it’s tame most of the time, but an awful lot goes on in terms of money coming into and going out of it… allegedly… ;);)
