That's not what I said.

I think binning Wes  when his form might return, and our other options are diminishing, might not be the best idea.

I don't think it's a form issue anymore - he's 34 bloody years old and slowing down rapidly. He doesn't have the physique to be a guy still performing in the prem at 35, 36, 37

I actually think Puel is a very astute man manager and knows that dropping Morgan this season probably isn't the best option when taking team spirit into account.

You'll probably find that this will be Morgan's last season for us and Puel is most likely, respectfully giving him his last games. Whilst it might cost us a few points in the present, it probably sends out the right message to the team for the future.

There is of course an argument that there isn't time for sentiment and I'm somewhat inclined to agree with that BUT Morgan has been a hero for us so I can understand completely if the scenario above is playing out.

I really hope you are right, we played so much better when he was out Puel must have noticed

There's every possibility we could lose Maguire in the Summer.

Huth might be finished.

Drago might leave.

Then we'll be up to our necks in bob.

Be careful what you wish for.

Morgan’s 34, time is up

Agree, looks like his best days are behind him. Still love the guy though.

Did anyone notice a moment in today’s match where Wes and Puel looked like they were in disagreement? Puel was signalling something to him and Wes seemed to look a bit miffed. This could just be me but he didn’t look happy.

If we lost the whole backline, and Wes stayed...I would still pray we are competent to go out

and buy, better players,or promote From within that would still be better than Wes now is.

Wes is a legend,Please dont Carry on being expected  automatic choice, your Reputation will die

and the great Past soon forgotten...That is football.

Puel probably asked him to behave like a premier league footballer

Exactly. Some of these posts are unbelievable. Insinuating that we sell Maguire (£50m?) and don't bother buying anyone new at all.

On what planet would that ever happen?!

Professional sport is a cut throat business. Teams will not keep you around just because you are a good guy. John Terry who was a Chelsea legend didn't start in his last year at the club. Just why we are catering to Morgan is a worry for me. Does the management team lack the balls to address difficult issues ? Drago was clearly better & deserved the CB spot.

But you could spend £30m plus and the player could flop.

Many clubs wanted Keane. He hasn't set the world on fire.

Stones cost £50m and hasn't pulled up trees.

I still think Wes has a role to play here.

It's obvious I'm in a minority in this thread, since some people want him taken out and shot, because he's 34.

if he's happy to be a backup/squad player fine but if him being here means he has to play then frankly yes he does need the metaphorical bullet

I can categorically say this will not be his last season. Plans to play top flight football or at least 1 or 2 more years yet.

Drago was not dropped. He was told of our intentions to sign up at the end of the season and he didn’t want to commit and said he wanted to consider his options.

Thid was saw as a sign of non commitment hence Morgan was brought back when fit again.

Rightly so who would you have a player playing for us who was not even sure if he wanted to be here next year. Things are not always as they seem. Two sides to every story.

Slightly different comparing Drago with RM when you have your captain ready to come back in who’s proven to be 100% committed to the cause.

its not different if the better player is Dragovic you play him simple as that, if your captain moans about it you strip him of the captaincy as he obviously isn't the fantastic leader people say, I suspect Wes would have just trained and waited for his chance to get back in

Just my personal opinion. If Drag could not commit and he’s not even our player then why would you even think about playing him over the captain. Obviously CP thought the same.

Thars what makes it a wonderful game it’s all about opinions bud.

Sadly as much as we may respect/love wes his distribution and lack of pace has cost us goals this season.

Today's second goal was a calamity of three players. Can't help thinking if we had Drago on the ball the decision making would have been better.

why would he commit when he had barely played all season? why would he commit if he thought, and was proven to be right, that Wes would walk back in regardless?

Your missing the point. He would have stayed in if he did commit. He was advised against it and to wait to consider his options at the end of the season.

Seems perfectly reasonable. He’s well within his rights to keep his cards close to his chest until he’s actually offered a contract.

I never said it was not his choice. But the fact is that choice cost him his place in the team. Can’t blane him or CP . He made his choice.
