But why do we need to put Hamer in the shop window when his contract is up? We owe each other nothing, he's been playing because for whatever reason the people in charge at this club aren't impressed with Jakupovic. He seems to be a player who gets marginalised at clubs but when trusted can perform very well, he was never going to be the perfect understudy given his previous experiences at other clubs. It is odd though how quite quickly he was bumped to 3rd choice.

Jamal Blackman from Chelsea/Sheff Utd would be ideal or Ward from Liverpool if and when they go for Butland.

"Putting him in the shopping window" may come across somewhat irritating, I agree.

Maybe there's been a little issue with the relationship between Schmeichel and Puel? If Schmeichel is fit and Puel insists on Hamer, what does that say about Puel, Schmeichel and Hamer?

I never understood why we needed 3 goalkeepers competing for one spot in the first place, especially given the fact that Schmeichel was pretty much untouchable for years.

Jakupovic has come up with some blunders in the U23s from what I've seen, so maybe his best days are behind him, too? I mean, he's 33 and probably reached the peak of his career.

But I wish all of our goalkeepers well, no matter where they'll end up in the summer.

Schmeichel to an aspiring Premier League club or back to Denmark (FC Copenhagen or IF Brøndby)?

Hamer to a newly-promoted Premier League team or a Championship side?

Jakupovic back to Switzerland (Basel, Young Boys in the Champions League qualifiers; Lucerne, St. Gallen and FC Zürich competing for Europa League places)?

Time will tell...

Personally, I think we need to build on a solid and reliable back four - and a highly competent goalkeeper. I just don't hope we end up fighting for scraps with all the good talent gone to one of the Top Six clubs, five of those who are trying to follow Manchester City's example by hoarding players like crazy, trying to weaken the opposition from the onset.

Exactly, it's clearly not why he's been playing. If it is, then I despair even more at Puel.

We don't really have three GK's competing for the No1 spot, we have Schmeichel and two GK's competing for the No2 spot.

Hamer is a decent No3 GK for us. In that role you just want someone who is happy enough to take that role and is reasonably competent to do a job if he's ever needed, they certainly don't need to be PL standard but an average League One standard GK is fine.

Maybe we needed a goalkeeper pushing Schmeichel to better things more than anything this season (given his performances and mistakes), not giving him a sort of carte blanche whilst having two No.2s competing for a spot on the bench.

Jakupovic certainly don't like that idea.

I'd be very happy to bring in a promising young keeper like Jordan Archer to understudy Schmeichel. The guy has had two good seasons in League 1 and another standout season in the Championship for a team who have just missed out on the play offs. He's not a youth keeper but strong back up with room for serious progression still.

At the same time, giving Hamer another year isn't a bad idea. He's steady enough, home grown and cheap back up. Jakupovic can go. Not sure why he was brought in in the first place.

I'd love us to get that Lunin in we've been linked with. I've never seen him play but his pedigree looks excellent and you would think he'd be banging on the door within a season to be No1. Sadly I don't think he'd come here as an understudy as he'll have better options but a young highly talented GK would be ideal for us to come here as a No2 and eventually displace Kasper.

Lunin is 19 and would hardly feature as a No.1 for us right away. Despite his Europa League heroics, you probably need somebody older/more mature and more experienced to challenge Schmeichel.

Putting Hamer in the shopping window means Schmeichel isn't injured anymore and can recover fully for the World Cup. Win-win for both.

Now all we need is Jakupovic given a chance either against Arsenal tonight or Spurs on the weekend.

But who knows? Given a good performance in Russia, Schmeichel may be off after the tournament, too...

I agree, Hamer isn't a good keeper but the club seem to have had it with Jaku - think it's a Stowell decision.

Lunin is young but the club are after someone who can take over from Kasper in a couple of years.

I'd go in for Ben Foster from West Brom, experienced back up and good enough to push Kasper. Would probably be cheap as well.

Club were looking at Lunin in Jan so assume we'll go back in for him.

I was told Hamer had been told he was off and they were playing him to put him in the shop window. Assume if he stays it'll be as third choice.

I thought someone told me you were ITK but Hamer is out of contract so it gains us nothing to put him in the shopwindow does it?

Whatever the case I hope that we've finished playing him. Might as well put Jaku in the shop window against Arse or play Iversen

Yes strange he moved to us and has seen no 1st team action in 2 years.

Anyone know if we rate him or it was a punt that hasn't worked out?

He seems ok in the U23 games I've watched him play - certainly no worse than Hamer and Jako.

Hamer and Japukovic (sp) have to go.

Neither are close to pushing Kasper and Japukovic is clearly not liked or favoured for some reason by the GK'nig coaching team.

Bringing through Iverson is an option but I'd prefer him to get a loan out to a Championship side for a season where he'll start every week.

I'd very much like us to go in for Foster / Archer as a number two or preferably break the bank to get Pope if we are contemplating selling Kasper.

I believe it's more for Hamer so he can find a new club in the summer, nothing to gain for us but something to gain for the player.

I personally would go for Danny Ward from Liverpool I’ve seen him now at Aberdeen & Huddersfield in the last few years & he was outstanding. Liverpool fans potentially thought he would get a few games this year but doesn’t seem to have happened.

He is still only 24 years old & fully capped with wales.

if we are buying a younger keeper I would rather Blackmon at Shef Utd, on loan from Chelsea

He's had some serious weight issues in the past.

He was sent back to Chelsea by Wycombe and Chelsea had to rent him a Wattbike exercise bike for home to use outside of training as he struggled so much.

Not sure if that's something he's got over now but not always a great sign especially mobility wise for a goalkeeper.

Archer is excellent.

Kasper might be able to help him there though; remember the bulk he'd put on for Hull away last year? He cut back down fairly quickly after that

Maybe Jakupovic will get a chance to play before the season is out......

My question would be why? But assume you know something?

I got a whisper he was starting tonight.

The whisper was correct and justified. After his performance last night, if he doesn't start against Tottenham my question will be why?

Still think it's best that we move him and Hamer on though and bring in a keeper that can really push and challenge Kasper.

We never really know what goes on behind the scenes. Have to suspect that something has gone on with Jako. Which is a shame. I feel there will be significant upheaval elsewhere in the squad this summer. Goalkeeper is one area we could have avoided - Schmeichel and Jako 1-2 is plenty good enough on playing ability. Maybe a chance for a younger keeper to

make a claim for No.3? Would have been one less transfer distraction.

I can but assume Jakupovic is playing so he can present himself in the shopping window.

Shouldn't be hard to find appropriate suitors after last night's performance.

Just don't tell them about the U23 game against Sunderland...
