Really hoping we can keep Jakupovic as last nights game against Arsenal thought he had an outstanding performance and seems more of a calmer replacement than Hamer !!

Nearly let a soft one in at the near post ...   think they should all have 6 corners slung in on the training pitch and keep the one who can come out and catch the most ...   ask Hoooooth !! to get in the way to make it more difficult before he packs his boots ...   :)

Assume you mean Iversen.

Yes strange he moved to us and has seen no 1st team action in 2 years.

Anyone know if we rate him or it was a punt that hasn't worked out?

The fact that he is now 21 and still playing for Beagleholes U23s team says it all for me......plus the reports that we were potentially looking at Lunin who is only 19

If he was good enough or had any ambition he would have been out playing senior football in the lower leagues by now to be gaining experience....just like most of the better keepers his age at other PL clubs.

Seems to just "hoof the ball long" when playing for U23s and certainly doesn't look like a keeper who comes for crosses and controls his 10 yard area. if he cant do that against U21 players, he is going to struggle playing at senior level.

Ive been wrong before but Yth/U23s with any real potential are generally either out on loan or in with the first team squads by age of 21.

Iversen's play style is a lot like Kasper. First choice U23 keeper ahead of Bramley and Yates. Certainly looked as good as Hamer and better than Jakupovic when they dropped down to U23s. Wouldn't mind giving him a go in preseason, should probably go on loan somewhere first though. (Unlikely to be OHL as pretty sure they've brought in the Thai national team GK.)

Jakupovic is a better keeper than Hamer; I think that's clear. Kasper is no longer a spring chicken, either. Jakupovic will likely start a few matches next season.

He's 32!!

That's pretty much the prime age for a keeper I'd say!

I didn't realise Jakupovic was 34 in a few months time, it may explain why Hamer was being picked before Eldin. Age is hardly important for goalkeepers but he only really has 2 or 3 years left in him.

Kasper has been way too complacent for the past couple of seasons knowing he’ll never be dropped. His performances, particularly this season, have proven that. We need to sign a top quality goalkeeper and make KS worry a bit, his attitude this season has really annoyed me. Jako is a good goalkeeper but not good enough to trouble Kasper, and Hamer has always been shunted down to 3rd choice for whoever comes in (Schwartzer, Zieler, Jako) but is a good person to have around the place so he’ll be missed in that respect. Not sure why we’re so obsessed with having 3 goalkeepers anyway, surely one of the development squad lads can be the 3rd?

Forget back up to Kasper. We need a keeper who will take his place. How often do teams buy a young keeper who eventually replaces the old one? Tom Heaton or Fraser Forster would be good signings.

You've literally just suggested two goalkeepers who have been replaced by Younger ones lol I don't even know where to begin....

Did Puel favour Forster? Would be a good shout for a keeper purchase, imo

He played every game. Doesn't make him a good option though, he was identified as a weakness this season and Southampton have played better without him. Seems fairly injury prone for a keeper as well.

Don't get me wrong a couple of seasons ago he was top draw but seems to have lost it.... a little bit like Kasper and what we need is an upgrade.

have to agree with you there, my other half is a Southampton fan and she said hes been awful this season and if he had stayed in goal all the way till the end of the season theyd have gone down

personally i thought Daniel Bentley at brentford would be a decent signing, young too..........in goalkeeping terms

The keepers as with many of the other U23s are not allowed out on loan (fact). Claudio didn't mind it and wasn't that interested in non first team players, policy has changed as they want to see the development sides do well.

A loan is obviously to the clubs benefit and to the players and the players want loans.

Barnes and Hamza have both had generally good spells at MK Dons + Barnsley and Burton respectively. Barnes went off the boil slightly at Barnsley and was recalled, Hamza moved from Burton for other reasons. Both have been suitably ££ rewarded for this increased profile and have become fringe players. Others seeing this want it.

The core of the U23s that stand out have had experience against 'men' IE big blokes trying to kick them in the lower leagues + lower region!

Hamer should have no part in the clubs future as proven to be not good enough and rejected when loaned out, he's as with Beni etc are just holding back those developing

Most of those we have/had out on loan are there because the are crap! and big mistakes, hopefully attracting a buyer or in the hope of a miracle. However we did have games requiring a big front man

They are a similar age to Kasper, no? We should seriously go for Butland. 25 so pretty young, England international and has the capacity to replace Kasper next season.Ok, he had a shite season with Stoke but anyone would have with that defence.

Too expensive and won't want to spend a season sat on the bench.

Suggest he plays behind Wes and Cattermole for a season to sharpen up his reflexes.

I’m talking about him replacing Kasper plus Stoke are really shit at transfer dealings so we could negotiate a better deal for him.

I'd like to see us attempt to sign Butland but I think Wolves will be sniffing around as they want to spend some money as a statement of intent. Like the look of Pope at Burnley too but I think, even though he is still officially their Number 2, with Europe beckoning and Heaton only just coming back from injury he may yet stake a claim for their No. 1 shirt full-time.

Kasper needs some serious competition, now, though. I think on that we all agree.
