Good shouts for Johnson, Knight, Wood, & Dewsbury-Hall. They’ve all shown promise this season. But I think they are the next batch after Hughes, Choudhury, Barnes & Thomas.

There is only limited space in the first team squad, so we can only promote so many.

However in the summer of 2019 Simpson, Morgan & Fuchs contracts run out, so if they leave it will free up room in the squad for the likes of Johnson, Knight & Wood.

In regards to Dewsbury-Hall, we’re pretty stacked at CM. But if James continues to struggle with injuries next season we could see Dewsbury-Hall introduced sooner than expected.

I also have to agree with people that it’s highly likely these lads will only get a chance if it’s Puel in charge.

Correct rumoured to be heading to ajax if/when they lose de ligt. Meaning 1st team football in his favoured position.

Would echo others thoughts that Hughes would have been worth a look at over the last month surely.

If true there must be something about him. Ajax know their youth products.

Didn't know he's Emile's god son. I'd be cautious about having two youth defenders. On the other hand, our right back problems have been ridiculous for years - it'd be stupid to let him fester in the u23s. Hopefully now we've got more youth players in the first team they can help the others better make the transition.

I'd like to see him ahead of the likes of Benalouane and Amartey for the right back position. There has been opportunities to break him into the first team this season but for what ever reason he hasn't quite made it yet.

How’s Elliott Moore done under Nigel

Played 28 and scored 3. He's doing pretty good by all accounts. On another note Josh Knight has scored 12 from defence this season for the U23s, he may even be top scorer.

Hughes is top scorer and very good at heading at corners. Knight needs to bulk up first. Wood is decent and could come in as understudy when Fuchs leaves. Can't see Johnson staying or he would have signed a new contract by now, shame as he would make an excellent RB. Pascanu is nowhere near yet. Iversen is good enough now for 3rd choice GK but probably needs loaned out for first team experience. Not sure Barnes or Thomas are ready yet personally, think they need a loan spell in a top half Championship team. Swinging towards Puel in for the sole reason that he develops youth, it is a very rare trait in a Prem manager.

I think you’re thinking of Sam Hughes? Not in a position to check, so I may be off.

If we can persistently develop new talent while playing attractive mid table premier league football I'll be happy.

The attractive bit isn't quite there yet though.

You have to think Top must see youth development as financially important too. It'll be a constant source of income when we start selling premier league talent and cheaper than constantly buying over priced duds.

We’ve already 10-20x profitted on Diabate; I’d imagine we could do a decent business developing decent Championship and PL squad level players given our new investments in facilities and training ground.

The key, of course, is to keep filling the U23s with talented players - and then to work like hell to polish them. I’ve been very happy with our sub-£1-2million player purchases the last 3 years.

I think I took a tour with the Mrs. last time I was in England, beautiful grounds.

Are you talking about your missus?

Is Ndukwu any good, swear i always just see him on the bench for our u23s

He's okay, not brilliant, and I thought I saw somewhere his contract was expiring end of this season and he hadn't signed a new one.

Who’s the very young lad that’s meant to be amazing that we have? I’m sure he’s like 15 lol

GERIMIN

Terell Pennant, he's stepped up to our U18 squad a small handful of times this season

Thought that as well. You'd be sick if we lost him to Ajax, he did well there and they ended up making loads from him from another English club in 5 years time.

An efficient academy can save you millions. I don't think we've ever truly valued it. I think the whole culture of Leicester bringing through youngsters still feels a bit alien and it's hard to have trust when we've never really done it very well.

For all the criticisms of Puel, I actually admire his persistence with Chilwell for example. Chilwell isn't going to get better by not playing. I do think he's a bit of a bombscare at times at the back but you'll only get rid of that by playing games.

Choudhury as well. That was the most refreshing performance I've seen in a long time from him the other night. Someone I thought showed a few moments of quality, but did look a bit lost in his previous games, ended up outperforming players like Aaron Ramsey and Henrikh Mkhitaryan. That's fantastic really and I'm sure it's his experience in the team that's got him into a situation when he can do that. Could you have imagined that six months ago?

I'm guilty of moaning a lot but I'm always prepared to be a bit more patient with younger players.

Darnell Johnson hasn't looked great (in the admittedly few) games I've watched. The Ajax link seems like agent talk to me considering Choudhury was apparently watched by all sorts of teams as a academy player.
