New application to build over 350 flats going in.

Shame the club can't buy the land , but I'm sure the new stadium development will blow everything out the water regardless.

It’s better than it being a wasteland I suppose, still depressing that it’ll most likely have no nod to what once stood there

If fans want some sort of memorial at Filbert St then they need to make it happen themselves by raising money and getting the current owners of the site to allow it to be put there.

Union FS were in discussion with the land owners to do this and smarten the area up. Got told to jog on sadly.

Were they expecting the owners to cough up any money needed?

Besides tidying up is not really a lasting memory especially as it looks like they're planning to go ahead with some new building which will mean a tidy up by default.

Maybe if there was a serious plan to provide a memorial an approach to the Council would be better as they have to approve any plans with or without a memorial anyway.

This really is tragic...

A park or a small sports pitch open to the public not just to residents as part of any potential development surely would be sensible way to honour the space.

If they just concrete it all and build private flats only and private spaces only with the whole site it'd be such a soulless decision for what is an important heritage public space :(

Sad to see the present state of Filbert St. The KP's great & everything, but lacks the ramshackle charm of the old place.

Most of all I miss the smell of Filbert Street. A heady mixture of beer, fag-smoke and the slight addition of burning coke from the power station. And the noise.  And the standing. And the paying on the gate. ..running up the steps to the Kop as the Post Horn Gallop blared out to join in the roar as we came out.

Maybe we should install a Holodeck at the site so old gits like me can relive their youth. I'd be up for that...

This would be good. I often feel the need to rest my balls on something on the way to the game and the old centre circle would be perfect lol

Dosnt your wife mind being called the old centre circle.

And the smell of grass and damp mud, one thing I really miss about filbert street, rushing in as an excited kid, and smelling the turf, even more so under floodlights.

Every other club has some sort of acknowledgement to where they used to play.

Ours is just a mess. There needs to be a place where fans can go before kick off.

But I wouldn't expect the club to do anything. There's little acknowledgement of anything relating to our history at Filbert Way as it is.

Does the club even own this land anymore?  I suspect not.

It was sold for pittance because of the cost of demolishing the Main Stand.

some club had consider buying and rebuilding it at their ground but it turned out cheaper to build a new Stand from scratch.
